Dismantling.
Hillary Clinton met with her campaign staff in Virginia today to inform them that they’re last day will be Friday. They are, however, getting paid through June 15th. How generous! [ABC News] 8 Responses» |

VA Elects First Black, Gay Official
Yesterday’s elections weren’t a total loss for gay politicians. Sure, former business man Jim Neal lost his bid for North Carolina’s Senate, but Virginia-based political Lawrence Webb made a big mark: he’s now the state’s first black and gay elected official. Totally radical! |
Horrible Hopeful
Proudly homophobic state Senator Ken Cuccinelli wants to be Virginia’s next Attorney General. He also makes no apologies for his bigoted views: “I’m a traditional family guy and I don’t believe homosexuality is something that’s right at a fundamental level.” If only he were being ironic… [Washington Blade] 5 Responses» |

VA AG Backs No Gay Churches In Property Dispute
Virginia’s anti-gay Episcopal churches got some love from the state’s Attorney General this week. Eleven churches broke away last year to align with international Anglicans who disapprove of the US-branches gay-inclusive policies. The split races some serious questions about property, namely: who gets what? Now Virginia A.G. Bob McDonnell has taken the dissenters’ side: The attorney general urged Circuit Judge Randy I. Bellows to follow a state law dating back to the Civil War era in resolving the dispute. That law allows a majority vote of the congregation to determine ownership and affiliation when a “division” has occurred within a religious denomination. The Episcopal Church argues that the state law is unconstitutional because … Continued… Respond» |

Homophobes Say The Darndest Things!
Virginia resident John Stec takes issue with The Roanoke Time’s consistent support of gay rights and “equality”. The engineer apparently doesn’t believe gays should have, deserve or need any such things. Nor does he seem to understand the full extent of homosexual inclinations: A man or boy can love another man or boy without the exchange of bodily fluids. I love my father deeply. Affection is physically given and proven by an appropriate and occasional embrace and a kiss. I love some of my friends deeply. They know it. They know it by my conversation, my commitment to their well-being and by the things we enjoy together. And they know it without having to disrobe to perform sex. |

“Pro-Family” Politico’s Hubby Shills For Gay Loving Viacom
Virginian senatorial candidate Jill Holtzman Vogel and husband Alex Vogel prove the old adage: politics makes for strange bedfellows. |

Ex-Gay Group Wins School Suit
Another constitutional victory for some ex-gay lovers. Arlington, Virginia’s public school board will allow Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays, preciously abbreviated as PFOX, to distribute their pro conversion pamplets on school ground. The board originally refused PFOX’s request, but buckled when the non-profit threatened legal action. Now educators must allow PFOX to join more socially responsible groups in passing out literature. |

Sam Garrison Dead At 65
Samuel Alexander Garrison III catapulted to fame during the Watergate impeachment trial, during which he defended President Richard Nixon. His unsuccessful argument rested on whether or not the country would actually benefit from booting the crooked politician. His star will fall a decade later when the lawyer embezzled $46,000 during a bankruptcy lawsuit. Garrison - a man who has been described as “extraordinary” - would later divorce his wife, regain his law license and come out. Of Garrison’s coming out, friend Hal Cohen remarks, “It was a very long, agonizing process for [Garrison], his coming out. He was married and had two children and was still a conservative Republican.” After coming out, Garrison cut his ties … Continued… 2 Responses» |

Gay Porn “Killers” Keep Fighting
Porn producer Joseph Kerekes and skin starlet Harlow Cuadra may be in prison for murder, but they refuse to be treated like criminals. The two were arrested and charged in Vriginia Beach, VA, Tuesday for the January murder of business rival, Bryan Kocis. Police allege that Kerekes and Cuadra (pictured) plotted and carried out Kocis’ killing - and apparently the devilish duo really wanted Kocis dead: they stabbed him 28 times and then set his house on fire. In addition to the murder and arson charges, the boys are also facing racketeering charges. As their good fortune wears off and their bank accounts remain frozen, the boys remain resolute in cock-blocking justice: they’ve refused extradition to Pennsylvania… |

Peter Akinola Preaching Stateside
Nigeria Anglican Archbishop Peter Akinola’s tightening his grip on America’s soul. The virulent homophobe will pay Woodbridge, Virginia a little visit to appoint former Episcopal clergyman Martyn Minns as the leader of Akinola’s Convocation of Anglicans in North America. Born from the never-ending gay debate, Akinola’s Nigeria-based Convocation aims to recruit conservative Americans into his Bible-thumping fold. American Episcopal leader Katharine Jefferts Schori has pleaded with Akinola to back off her territory, but it seems Akinola’s hellbent on a bit of religious colonization. Akinola replied by saying that the CANA will: provide a safe place for those who wish to remain faithful Anglicans but can no longer do so within the Episcopal Church as it is currently being led. Holy bitchiness! |

A New American Era?
Well, it would seem that after all those nightmarish years, the Democrats may again have some power in Washington. As we’re sure you know, the Demmies took back control of the House of Representatives for the first time since they lost it so tragically in 1998 (Correction: We meant the Dems lost the House in 1994, not 1998. It was early; we’re human. xoxo). While it’s too soon to tell, it also looks as if they’ll retain control of the Senate. So, what does this all mean? Well, it means that perhaps some progressive policy can take place in Washington. It also means that while Illinois Republican Dennis “Hasturd” Hastert won reelection, he will … Continued… 5 Responses» |

Mary Cheney Gives
The Commonwealth Coaltion, a pro-homo organization fighting Virginia’s proposed amendment banning gay marriage, has itself a new ally: Mary Cheney. The VPs camera shy lezzie daughter stepped up to the plate and threw some cash their way with former Virginia Governor Mark Warner. The Virginian-Pilot reports: Gastanaga said contributions from Warner and Cheney are morale boosters for the Coalition. Warner, a Democrat, gave $25,000 through his political action committee, One Virginia. Cheney, daughter of the Republican vice president, gave $1,000 to the group. |

Gay Videos Offend Christian Techie
A man in Arlington, VA who runs his own video duplication service has a company policy that he reserves the right not to duplicate any videos that violate his “Christian and ethical values.” Unfortunately, such a policy violates Arlington County’s anti-discrimination law, and when a woman wanted to duplicate some gay-themed videos (not porn, as far as we can tell) and he would not copy them, she complained to the Human Rights Commission and he was ordered to provide the service. Now he is suing the officials on the Commission on the grounds that Virginia state law does not allow for sexual orientation to be added to anti-discrimination laws. We think that Christian video duplicators could be a phenomenon. Recently we … Continued… 2 Responses» |
