On Monday, Pope Francis sped through the international skies in his sleek Papal Plane, gabbing it up with reporters. Asked to remark on the fraught relationship between the Vatican and the gay community, the Pontiff raised eyebrows when he said:

I believe that the church not only should apologize to the person who is gay whom it has offended, but has to apologize to the poor, to exploited women, to children exploited for labor; it has to ask forgiveness for having blessed many weapons.”

So when CNN’s Chris Cuomo began his Tuesday morning interview with Bill Donohue, the President of the Catholic League, he was probably expecting him to support the Pope’s statement. Well, that didn’t happen.

“Do you feel like apologizing to the LGBT community?” Cuomo asks.

Donohue’s response?

No. As a matter of fact, I want an apology from gays! I’ve been assaulted by gays. I’ve never assaulted a gay person in my entire life!”

Things went from bad to perverse when Donohue launched into some strange story about “being assaulted by lesbians.” Soon after that, the entire interview devolved into a sarcastic bicker-fest.

“I don’t want to have a lifestyle thrusted in my face though!” Donohue yelled.

“How are they putting their gay on you?” Cuomo retorted, oddly. (“Putting My Gay On You” could be an amazing house track.)

Donohue’s response to Cuomo’s question is absolutely insane.
