Chaz Bono Drops 60 Pounds, Offers Diet Tips

ChazWith swimsuit season around the corner, many of us are cutting down on the carbs. So is Chaz Bono, who has shed 60 pounds since last fall.

The transgender activist son of entertainer Cher debuted his new physique at the GLAAD Media Awards on Saturday and he told People magazine that never had success with dieting.

“Diets don’t work,” Bono said. “You just have to change what you eat, and I have.” The 44-year-old Bono said he cooks “a lot of different stuff,” and for the most part “really [avoids] grains and starches, so meats and vegetables and fruits are my diet. I make them all different ways to keep it interesting.”

Last November, Bono, then carrying 250 pounds on a 5’5 frame, appeared on the syndicated series The Doctors to discuss his weight problems with cohost Dr. Travis Stork and get advice on slimming down.

“I wasn’t an overweight child, but I was put on diets all of the time,” he said at the time. “So there was a lot pressure to be underweight growing up.” He announced on the show his intention to lose between 50-80 pounds.

The former Dancing With the Stars contestant also confessed that he still enjoys dancing. Wonder if he’ll be working out listening to this later this summer.
