Despite complying with a settlement reached with New Jersey's attorney general to provide online dating services to same-sex couples (Compatible Partners), eHarmony still has problems. Legally, there's still the class action lawsuit in California that argues eHarmony's gays-only site is also illegal because it's a "separate but equal" strategy. And then there's the competition.
Chemistry.com, owned by Match.com, has already been going after eHarmony for turning gays away, with a serious of vicious ads. With eHarmony discriminating against gays, not only did Chemistry.com get to brand a competitor as a dirtbag, but steal a customer base eHarmony was leaving on the table.
And now that eHarmony has CompatiblePartners.net for gays? Chemistry.com isn't letting up the heat.
Here's the first of what we expect to be a full on media assault, painting eHarmony and Dr. Warren as the hatemongers they always have.

sounds like great "chemistry" to me.lol
I say anyone gay or gay friendly should not give e-Harmony a dime not so much as the sweat from the crack of our asses. These people are bigots period. F*ck them if they have belatedly deigned to allow gays and lesbians a marginalized little space on their site. Too little too late. Let's bankrupt these homophobes!
Wait, I'm confused. Why all the hate directed just towards eHarmony while Match.com HAS BEEN DOING THE SAME THING FOR YEARS and boasting about it?! Chemisty.com is just the bargain bin brand of Match.com that also permits gay match-ups. With the addition of Compatible Partners, now eHarmony's business structure is identical to Match.com's.
Either hate 'em both or hate neither one. But to call out one and not the other is hypocritical.
Personally, I think that they've both acted like douches, but I don't think they broke the law. And before anyone rushes to argue "separate but equal", realize that homosexual dating pools MUST be separate for heterosexual one at some level, otherwise we'd be matched to the wrong people!
Jonathan – I think you might be confused. Both Match and Chemistry have welcomed the gay and lesbian community since it's inception!! And Chemistry is the premium brand to Match.com!
Hey Jonathan,
I am not sure what you mean – I actually met my partner on Match.com. Three and a half years and counting now! We would be married already if Texas allowed it! I am a huge supporter of Match.com and all of their brands.
What good is a dating when it was forced into creation by a court order. I can't see Eharmony keeping it updated and new.
Leave the Eharmony to the Christians we have match.com who wants our business. When I went to Chemistry.com it took me to match.com. They are the same website.
I'm not likely to *pay* eHarmony, but I won't object to the 6-month free period. If I meet the right guy, I'll be letting the money of homophobes go towards setting up my Big Gay Marriage.
Yep, I'll take that free 6 months. Not impressed so far though.
