Chick Fil-A Vandalized With Pro-Gay Graffiti

Screen Shot 2014-01-15 at 2.33.46 PM

An unknown vandal figured out how to work an antigay slur into a pro-gay graffiti message on a Chick fil-A in Tennessee.

Nashville’s WKRN-TV is reporting that Chick-fil-A, everyone’s favorite purveyor of fast food chicken sandwiches and numerous  instances of homophobia, has been tagged with a message meant to inform the surrounding community that “God loves fags and chicken!”

Um…thanks, we think?

Though Chick-fil-A has been trying to clean up its act as of late, the company’s homophobic reputation still lingers like the sugary aftertaste of one of their awful sandwiches. This incident proves that it’s going to be a long road forward for them, though the franchise will not press charges and police aren’t investigating the act.

Gay activists have targeted Chick-fil-A with vandalism before, but Tennessee Equality Project Executive Director Chris Sanders was careful to condemn the act and the culprit. “We understand why people get angry about things in the news, things that happen and things that effect equality,” he told WKRN, “but there are very productive peaceful ways of dealing with them we think.”

This kind of action only hurts our cause, making us look like thugs.

@Elloreigh: Agree. I would much rather they go bankrupt as a business due to their bankrupt religious philosophy. Vandalism is never okay.

Very retro – ACT UP . . . and appropriate. Playing nice with these corporate haters will accomplish nothing. Sometimes ‘thug’ mentality is what it takes.

Agree this is just wrong and hope the ones responsible are prosecuted. We won’t get anywhere acting like the Gay Mafia

There’s plenty of room for militant type people on one end of the spectrum to the more passive on the other end!

It wouldn’t surprise me if this was a set up to rile the homophobes up for another support showing in favor of the company.

But if there were anti-gay graffiti sprayed on the infamous bath house (that still only has an address plate in the year 2014), there would be a march the next day.

How about a different take on the issue? It was actually done by anti-gay activists, who want to discredit the LGBT community. I don’t think that many LGBT people would use the word “fags” to further their cause.

Regardless, I’m sure surveillance cameras will catch the perps.

@Caleb in SC: Yes, gay people do use the word fag to promote their cause. The phrase they use here is in direct reference to the WBC. There’s even a website godlovesfags.com.

This is Petty and useless. Chick Fillet is not anti gay, all the CEO said was that he did not agree with Gay Marriage. Chick Fillet employs hundreds of gay people. Poll your families & Friends, and there will be one that does not agree with Gay Marriage. We as a community cannot be this close minded and use the tactics that were bestowed on us.

@tchuy03: He is donating to anti-gay organizations. You should know what you’re talking about before you speak.

@Dwayne420: The gay mafia would have used purple spray paint, and glitter, and balloons, and would have incorporated penguins, and Tom Daley.

Something about this does not fit. I’m calling provocateur action, it’s quite obvious really.

It’s always funny when the right wing trolls come in and try to lie. It’s as if they think that none of us have been paying attention.

      1. Chick Fil Et not only donated to, but shared it’s corporate office space with an anti-gay organization. More than one of the organizations it donated to was helping to fund the Uganda “Kill the Gays” bill.

In addition to being anti-gay, Chick Fil Et has also been accused of firing women when they get pregnant so they can be “Home with their babies” etc…

      So nice try.

I disagree about this hurting the cause. Sociological theory would allude to more radical practices bringing attention to the cause and making more moderate efforts more mainstream.
