China Bans Gay People From Television; So Long, Bravo.

Earlier this week we reported that Indonesia banned “effeminate” men and drag queens from television, and not to be outdone, China has now banned all gay people from appearing on TV.

The new and regressive “moral” guidelines for broadcasting come shortly after the country pulled the plug on Addicted, a web series based off the popular “boys’ love” novel, Are You Addicted?, which features male teens kissing. Think of the children!

The new policy bans “abnormal sexual relationships and sexual behavior” as well as “witchcraft practices and feudal superstition,” and “grotesque criminal cases.” Way to cover your bases, Chinese censors.

It only took three weeks for Addicted to get yanked off the air, but the show has since been uploaded to Youtube.
