Christian Community Freaks Out Over Gospel Singer Kevin Terry’s Gay Sex Tape

The online Christian community is in an absolute tizzy over gospel singer Kevin Terry.

Last week, a 47-second video of Terry performing oral sex on another man hit the internet. Shortly after Queerty wrote about it, the story went viral. And people have been freaking out ever since.

Terry’s friend and fellow Christian Lil’ Mo recently spoke in defense of the singer: “I haven’t spoken to him directly,” she said in an interview. “I did get word he is mortified.”

It should be noted that Lil’ Mo is the one who originally confirmed Terry’s identity in the video when she tweeted about it last Thursday.

“This is a low blow not only to his privacy, but some of the deep and spooky church folks are not praying for him,” Lil’ Mo continued. “The comments I’ve seen people post are just hurtful.”

She then called the person who leaked the video “evil” and “vicious” before rating Terry’s performance: “I give it an A- only because he didn’t shed a tear. Nor did he gag.”

She seems like a great friend.

The “deep and spooky church folks” she is referring to are internet trolls, who have taken to Twitter to express their disapproval of Terry and the harm he’s caused to the image Christians like to portray.

“Just saw the video of gospel singer and pastor Kevin Terry,” one person tweeted. “Wow seriously and they wonder why people losing hope.”

Another Tweeter suggested that Terry wasn’t the only person engaging in homosexual acts in their community: “I hope black folk don’t think ?#KevinTerry? is the only one??”

Of course, there are others who support the singer.

“Prayers for ?#KevinTerry? I hope he can get in church or even on his own and ask for forgiveness we are not perfect,” one supporter tweeted.

“It’s a shame that our people take Joy in embarrassing and exposing situations like Kevin Terry’s,” someone else wrote.

Terry himself has been laying low since the tape hit the internet late last week, although he did post a statement on his Facebook wall shortly after the leak. It read:

“I’m called according to (God’s) PURPOSE. My personal life is irrelevant because God can only judge. We need to put focus and more attention on helping people KEEP LIVING through the trenches of their opposition. I need as-much mercy with my struggles in life as much as you need for YOURS!!!!!”

He also called for people to pray rather than judge him for his actions:

“YES! (we) ALL have an opinion. However, is your NEGATIVE opinion going to make any DIFFERENCE at this point to help anybody,” Terry questioned. “Let’s put more prayer on it and may God continue to (cover) YOU… his BLAMELESS People!”

The Facebook post has since been deleted. The image of Terry whipping his neck around with a penis in his mouth, however, will remain forever burned in our memories.
