Christian Group Vows To Fight For More Marriage Bans

Ahhh!

Not content with trouncing gay rights in Arizona, California, Florida and 27 other states, right-wing organizations are looking to start up anti-gay initiatives elsewhere.

So says Christian Coalition for America president Roberta Combs:

The American people are proud of their fellow citizens in the states of California, Florida and Arizona for upholding traditional marriage between one man and one woman.

Christian Coalition of America will continue to fight to ensure that government serves to strengthen and preserve, rather than threaten, our families and our values.

Are we the only ones envisioning greedy, brain sucking zombies?

This is ridiculous. It’s essential that you guys keep posting this info, I know. But can you start posting where to go to get active about this as well? I don’t live in CA so I can’t go participate in the marches. I need to know what to do…

Thats one of the problems with the Gay Community today. There is NO SERIOUS AGRESSIVE Gay Activism going on we have been “playing nice and passively” with Petitions and Commercials. It REALLY IS TIME TO FIGHT GUYS AND GALS. NOT Violently of course. But we do need to play HARDBALL. Organized Boycotts, Marches, Protests, Non violent Civil Disobedience. I have offered to start building a website. Listing supporters, companys, of boycotts that should be out in effect but I DO NEED HELP WITH THE BUILDING OF THE WEBPAGE. If noone else out there will do it I will. I am sick of being treated like a second class citizen. We can bitch and moan and throw our money at ad agenct’s that make commercials that don;t do shit OR We can all band together and FIGHT.

First EVERY GAY MAN AND WOMAN HAVE TO BOYCOTT MARRIOTT HOTELS. If you work at one you should quit. Owned by Mormons it gives HUGE amounts of money to The Mormon Church and also were used as a setting for many convemtions and meetings leading up to the defeat. We also need to contact Gay Friendly Bussiness, Corporations, Travel Agents. In the US and Abroard and ask them to NOT TO PATRONIZE MARRIOT!

Also I just found this. Andy i don;t know if you want to do a blurb on this but this is The DISHONOR ROLL – from “Californians Against Hate”

“We want the country to know who is funding the Yes on Proposition 8 campaign to take away marriage equality in California. So right up until the November 4th election, we will post all major donors on our web site. These are all donors who gave $5000.00 and over”

Wolf, I think (sadly) that you’re right, and that a lot more serious, organised action is called for.

It’s a shame that has to be the case, but anyway, I’ll gladly help you with the website if you like, email: smupialfac[at]farifluset.mailexpire.com.

I think such a website could prove a key service to people who want to fight for this cause.

Start taxing churches. They want to get involved in politics, time for them to start rendering up to Caesar that which is Caesar’s.

Thnaks Steff/ I’ll be in touch over the next few. have to buy a domain and a host first.

This was listed a few pages back

LODGE A COMPLAINT TO REPEAL THE MORMON CHURCH TAX EXEMPT STATUS:

      According to IRS LAW
Section 501(c)(3) describes corporations, and any community chest, fund, or foundation, organized and operated exclusively for religious, charitable, scientific, testing for public safety, literacy, or educational purposes, or to foster national or international amateur sports competition (but only if no part of its activities involve the provision of athletic facilities or equipment), or for the prevention of cruelty to children or animals, no part of the net earnings of which inures to the benefit of any private shareholder or individual, no substantial part of the activities of which is carrying on propaganda, or otherwise attempting, to influence legislation (except as otherwise provided in section (h)), and which does not participate in, or intervene in (including the publishing or distribution of statements), any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for public office.

      and

According to IRS Publication 1828 Page 5,
      Substantial Lobbying Activity
In general, no organization, including a church, may qualify for IRC section 501(c)(3) status if a substantial part of its activities is attempting to influence legislation (commonly known as lobbying). An IRC section 501(c)(3) organization may engage in some lobbying, but too much lobbying activity risks loss of tax-exempt status.

Write the IRS directly: Subject: Take Action Against LDS

If it upsets you that a church can meddle with another state’s political statutes, here’s something simple you can do:

To report the LDS Church to the IRS, simply take 5 minutes to print these articles out and any others you can find:

      http://newsroom.lds.org/ldsnewsroom/eng/commentary/california-and-same-sex-marriage
      http://www.sltrib.com/ci_10839546
      http://www.sltrib.com/news/ci_10842051

Then print, sign and send the attached form (already completed) or download a blank and fill it out yourself at http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f3949a.pdf

      List the taxpayer as:

      Thomas S. Monson, et al
      50 East North Temple
      Salt Lake City, Utah 84150

List his occupation as President and the business as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Check the boxes for False Exemption and Public/Political Corruption.

Then in the Comments section demand that the LDS Church be fined and their tax-exempt status revoked for repeated and blatant violations of the IRS’s separate of church and state rules, and for conspiring to interfere with a state’s political process.

Check Yes under “Are books/records available?” and write in “campaign finance records.”

You don’t have to provide any of your own personal info. Mail the form and the printed articles to:

      Internal Revenue Service
      Fresno, CA 93888

At what point will the gay community stop playing defense and start going on the offense against the religious bigots? What is it going to take for hateful Americans to realize that gays aren’t a bunch of limp-wristed pansies? Civil disobedience? Violence? Boycott’s are nice and cute but do you really think they will have any real impact? The glbt community must get organized NOW! Obviously the MAJORITY of people in California (and the USA) already see us as a vile, despicable cancer on society, we are less than human (chickens are held in higher regard than us), why should we play nice anymore? They don’t offer us the same courtesy.

^ You’re right, but that needs to be coupled with authentic nonsensical leadership. More than often our so called leaders and Gay media are more than happy to turn a blind eye or look the other way concerning other minority groups who continually harm us for fear of being called names or alienating them when in reality they belong to that majority of people in the USA that “see us as a vile, despicable cancer on society.”

I’m all for civil disobedience and boycott’s of Mormons but this cannot be a one sided group that needs to be confronted for their bigotry when the numbers have shown that there are other minorities who have sided with and feel as much hatred for us as the Mormons in the voting booth.

If we allow our leaders to keep on denying this reality we will find ourselves being banned in more states including MA.

First off, I love how this person speaks for “The American people.” I guess we’re just chopped liver.
I too am sick of the religious Reich, and I know that so many of my straight pals were just as pissed off about prop H8 as I was.
But it’s true. GLBT-friendlies need to step up their activism game, because our enemies certainly are.
We should reach out to those companies and groups that fought against the measure like Apple and Google to join the long fight instead of just throwing last minute money at it. Wouldn’t it be cool if Google would donate some server space and Apple some .mac accounts to help set up targeted activist websites to fight future attacks and come up with some attacks of our own?
Why aren’t we proposing constitutional amendments reaffirming equal rights by barring discrimination based on sexual orientation at the state level?
Lastly, who cares if someone is a “limp-wristed pansy” whatever that means…a human being is a human being and a U.S. citizen is a U.S. citizen, and every single one of us has the duty to stand up and say, “Don’t tread on me!”

You are right ‘wolf’. “the triumph of mainstream civil rights over liberation si the victory of of pragmatic politics over MORAL POLITICS”(Vaid). If we want liberation we had best reexamine the assumptions about our politics, identies, strategies and our moral vision. We need to move from a ‘rights ‘ based movement to a freedom based movement.
Mainstreaming & assimilation have been a destructive , closeted & cowardly hole for us.

      Urgh…Churchillyyyy…

Strategic organisation means creating a organized strategy! Something I doubt you could lead or manage! This means taking/working on various groups AT A TIME.

No one is dumb enough to not realise that plenty of minorities are not homophobic-DUH-hate is an ugly thing and unforgivable!

So how do you deal with it dumbass? You heavily research all the groups (inc your fave African Americans), follow their patterns, were their hate comes from and so forth and then you create a strategic plan to CHANGE the ways if you can. And that means playing fire with fire-MANIPULATION, like the Mormons have played it!

The bottom line between homophobic hispanics, blacks, pinks and all those rednecks and mormons is they have ONE thing in common.

      Religion.

So I’m no Einstein…but surely this sir is the route to the issue??

      @Wolf:

I lodged a complaint many months ago with the IRS.

I never received a reply or an acknowledgment, which seems to to be par for the course with just about every email or letter I send out to everyone. No one bothers to respond anymore. :-(

Which makes me now wonder if all this letter writing doesn’t amount to a hill of beans? They probably just toss such letters in the circular file with the rationale that it’s just another faggot complaining and looking for “special rights”.

This shit is really beginning to get me down. The religious right has hijacked our government…with their permission. Even Obama gives us “God’s in the mix”.

The problem is, how do we get our secular government back?
