Obviously, I respect what everyone was saying, but no, it was because you grow and you mature. I was on Project Runway almost three years ago, so you kind of do a lot within that time. You grow and mature as years pass. I just kind of stopped saying what I used to say. It wasn’t like I said those things all the time — that was an edited TV show. That’s kind of how it works.

First off, it wasn’t only GLAAD who complained about him using the term, it was also a lot of people in the trans community. Whether he listened to us or to GLAAD, the fact is he stopped using it almost immediately. It’s much easier for him to say, “well I stopped using it because I developed as a person” rather than admitting, “a bunch of people in a community I kind of admire thought I was a stupid ass for saying it.”
