Church of Sweden Says Yes to Gay Weddings, and Gay Clergy Too

SWEDEN BISHOPS

THE SHOT — Swedish Lutheran pastor Eva Brunne, a lesbian, is ordained Sunday as a Church of Sweden bishop in the Stockholm Diocese by Swedish Archbishop Anders Wejryd, just weeks after the Church approved same-sex weddings. As we understand it, Brunne is the first openly lesbian bishop.

Lutherans. Good for them. Welcome to “humanity.”

Soon, the Lutherans in America will do the same. It’s the big divide in religion – conservative Vs. liberal (progressive). Episcopalians are splitting, too. The Pope has been marketing to the “conservative” ones. It’s working.

People who choose “equality” will leave their Conservative denominations behind. Conservative faiths will continue to shrink – in numbers and influence.

It’s less important to know if someone is “religious.” You must know what “type” of Christian and whether or not they choose equality over religion.

The LGBT Community would be better served by ignoring the conservative denominations, those with literal interpretation bigoted belief systems, and focus ONLY on the open-minded, fair ones – progressives.

This doesn’t mean “gay-friendly,” it means YES or NO regarding “equality.” It’s time for religious people to take a stand. The majority will stand up for equality – with us.

Sorry. I think the Pope’s “marketing efforts” have been aimed at conservative Episcopalians (Anglican Church).

I don’t want religion on my side. I wish they would all explode in an orgy of apocolyptic nightmares complete with trashy tabloid coverage. Oh wait, this is Queerty, nevermind. *eats popcorn*

Good for them, I am glad they can serve openly in their job. I am glad Sweden is so progressive. Now we need that attitude in the US.

I think you are going to start seeing major splits in most religions along traditional and progressive lines.
