Focus on the Family and similar corporations are not really trying to be hateful. Their primary purpose is fund-raising to pay the salaries of the executives. Gay-bashing has been a reliable way to raise funds for about three decades. However, as society has become more tolerant, it is becoming more difficult to raise funds that way. So they have to put out messages that are ever more strident and alarming. Their panicked alarms over every little thing are nothing more than desperate attempts to raise money.

Fortunately, most people are now realizing that gay people are people, too. The counter to these desperate alarms is simple -- just remind people that every gay person is a human being, and a member of a family, and that many gay people have children themselves.
