Congratulations to Francis Shervinski, the freshman Columbia College (Chicago) student just elected the school’s first-ever homecoming queen. “I will take a stance on a lot of issues concerning gender, race, class, and sexuality. I don’t plan to be passive at all. I’m willing to fight for who I am and hopefully be an inspiration to not only the LGBT community, but everyone,” he says. Shervinski’s royal counterpart is Russel Yost, the homecoming king. Both are gay men. Only Shervinski wore a dress to the ceremony.

Thank GOODNESS!!! Because after all, if more Homecomming queens used the power they have, there would be no war and everybody in the world would hold hands. ;)
Seriously though, Congrats to the two gentlemen.
