WEEK IN COMMENTS

COMMENTS: Prime Ministers, Fifth Graders, Facebook Fakes And More

Time for the Queerty Week in Comments, with the most compelling, thought-provoking or just downright bitchy comments that came directly from you, the readers!

“Who cares if any church recognizes gay marriage? I am only concerned with the benefits it delivers me for taxes, partner rights etc., as a member of a race of people. If you get married in a church, you still have to sign a state document for it to be legal for the rights I care about. That is the issue gays need to be concerned with, not if a religion or cult allows it.

This is a human-rights issue not a religious one. Fine if you want to chastise a church for not being inclusive, just give me the legal rights first.”

“These issues SHOULD be discussed, with children, and without shame. It’s not about complicated adult “sex” things, it’s about two people, whatever their genders, loving each other and having or starting families. Which is supposedly what straight people think everyone should all do anyway – get married and have children.”

“They claim to follow the Bible but have continually broken one of the Ten Commandments. They at first claimed that the company was not donating to anti-gay groups, then it turned out they were doing it through a middle-man company.

They have created a fake profile to debate against this.

They were dumped by the Hensen company and yet claimed that THEY were pulling out due to safety issues with the toys. Funny how they claim that their company is religious but they have no problem breaking the commandment against bearing false witness. Isn’t it interesting how all these religious bigots ignore the entire Bible except for the part that supports their bigotry?”

“Sexual “brokenness” just sounds so… ugh. It’s one of those Christian fundamentalist terms that manages to wrap up pity, smug superiority, disgust and hatred all in one package. The only thing “broken” here is this guy’s brain, warped by fundamentalist dogma and self-loathing.”

“It’s God’s judgement on the Chick-a-Fil lifestyle.”

“I, like many others, really loved watching him on TV. When I found out he died today I knew I’d be sad and I was. Gay, straight, he brought laughter to so many people. I miss him already.”
