90205L1

OH SNAP — Upcoming pop diva Lady Gaga performs in London in some sort of carnival get-up, which some people might refer to as “fierce.”

lol. Love your viewpoint Kree.

I would have to say that Lady GaGa is producing an act that is working for her whether or not someone agrees with it or likes the type of music she does. I wouldn’t really say it is profound music, but people don’t tend to like profound (or really good song writing for that matter) when they are trying to unwind from a hard day. There is something to be said to start humming a tune with meaningless words but it has a beat. lol

I know, I know…that doesn’t speak about everyone. ;) I usually like to unwind to jazz and the great female artists (*cough*…like Etta James…*cough*).

I don’t know what a “Lady Gaga” is and I don’t like the look of it either. Why don’t teh gheys listen to Morrissey or the Cocteau Twins anymore? What’s the appeal of these plastic, blond, interchangable, pop “divas”?

I liked ‘Just Dance’ and I even like ‘Eh Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say)’ from her album, but most of the other songs I can’t stand (Poker Face).

Besides that I don’t really like her much, she does weird things with her hair and her bangs annoy me for some reason.

I do agree with Michael VDB though, a lot of people seem to be really into what she does and it’s working for her.

but you cannot compare lady gaga to madonna or britney or anyone else because she is not doing the same thing. she is not a pop singer.

she is a performance artist. she is a pop culture commentary.

and she is a totally legit musician aside from her persona. she has the academic credentials to back her up as well.

and BTW… any high fashion queer cannot deny that lilac lipstick.

Here, here, Adam.

Every time i read the comments on a blog mentioning Lady Gaga, there’s always this group of people who criticize her for being a fad or over the top or not original…. Maybe they are just old souls and don’t really get it, but Lady Gaga is so much more than a britney or a christina, or even (dare i say it) a Madonna. She may not end up having as long a career as some of these ladies, but unlike them, she truly understands and appreciates Pop as an art form. Not just pop music, but the art of fame and artifice and spectacle that come hand in hand with the musical aspects. Britney is a product, madonna was wiley enough to ride the wave of her fame, but Lady Gaga dissects and critiques famousness even as she revels in it… And her music, incidentally, is off the chain.

Contrary to the post and most of the comments, I actually find her music quite appealing.

As for her style, I may find it ‘fierce’ but her weirdness is very much entertaining.

And I quite agree with Adam… SHe can’t be compared to Madonna and/or Britney, coz unlike the two pop icons, Lady Gaga can actually sing (LOL). Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Madge and Britney, but let’s be honest, they are not exactly the best vocalists in town. Meanwhile Lady Gaga has the chops to sing acapella.

Also, Madge and Britney’s image is more sexy as well as their music, while Lady Gaga’s sounds more like absurd progressive pop…
