What does Eurovision 2014 winner Conchita Wurst now have in common with Dita Von Teese and Beth Ditto?
They’ve all been given the utterly fabulous honor of closing out a Jean Paul Gaultier runway show.
Gaultier told The Independent:
“I met Conchita two years ago she came to one of my couture shows. I loved her look and when I heard that she will represent Austria for the Eurovision Song Contest, I was delighted. When she won I was crazy with joy.”
He added:
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
“I always say that beauty is difference and Conchita has shown us all that she is unstoppable. And she looks great in couture; she is a real couture woman.”
Conchita wore a stunning floor length black and red dress, and by the looks of these photos we’re guessing she received a smashing reception.
Earlier this year Conchita and Gaultier walked the red carpet together at the Life Ball in Vienna, a preview of the good things to come:
Here’s a video of the pop singer walking the runway:

It is bizarre, but interesting. I mean bizarre in the sense that it is wildly different from anything else you can find!

@Billy Budd: The word you’re looking for is not bizarre but transgressive in its old and new senses.

I can’t believe how beautiful she is despite retaining that beard. Its just part of her beauty.
Marc
Nancy, please! bizarre”,”interesting”,”wildly different”, “transgressive’.
those are such tired compliments after every show. Gaultier is such a talented man, does he really need such a at-the-moment prop? Draggie with a beard., oh, ok.
Matt G
what can we say- genderfuck is going mainstream I guess. There are some crazy christian groups that see her as an anti-christ type figure in their narrative of “OMG Rapture”

Move along folks, nothing new to see here. Genderfuck is simply a trend that is being recycled yet again (see Bowie, Bolan, Stewart, John, Rundgren, Jagger, etc. in the early 70s.) Yeah, ok, I do love Wurst’s take on it. The beard and (sometimes) no boobs in a couture dress statement is rather fabulous.

This thing is a piping hot mess. That beard. lol
Billy Budd
I dont think she is a mess. She is very elegant, very beautiful IN HER WAY. She is EXOTIC. Look at that waist and hips. She looks like she is using a corset!

Nice to see her wearing a real beard instead of the makeup beard she won Eurovision in.
