What a tangled web our bloody, shameful, slave-ridden American history has woven.
A genealogical study has found that silver fox newsman Anderson Cooper‘s great-great-grandfather, Cornelius Vanderbilt, once owned Michelle Obama’s great-great-grandfather, Jim Robinson, on “Friendfield,” a 3,000-acre plantation in Georgetown, South Carolina.

there’s an update on mollygood that says this isn’t true… please update!
tallskin
Indeed Teddy, but I was also wondering what on earth all this has to do with gay issues??
Were both master and slave locked into a sweaty gay SM relationship or something? Otherwise what the FUCK has this got to do with anything gay???
emb
If it will help heal our society, I’m willing to be owned by Anderson Cooper…
CondeNasty
@ Tallskin
It is only tangentially relevent to us as the Coop is gay.

REMOVE THIS ARTICLE!!!! It’s inaccurate. REMOVE IT!!

I hope this isn’t true. It’s not Anderson’s fault even if it were, but it’d just make things really awkward whenever I see him on the CNN now.
Ugh.
CHURCHILL-Y
And so begins the Obama thugs attempts at white guilt Anderson into shutting up now that he has made some few reports that are not favorable to the Messiah.

The real Obama connection, both past and future.

Does this blog even attempt to fact check anymore?
michael
And what is the source of this story? Is Anderson supposed to slash his wrists because of the sins of his fathers? Its a really disgusting story made more disgusting because Queerty is leaving it up when its obviously not true. Does anyone in the media have any integrity? Queerty, your answer is?
Caleb
true or not i find it totally offensive and completely insensitive to write that his great great whatever owned anyone without putting quotations around the word owned. one human being could not, and can not, own another human being… he “owned” her… he did now own her… there is a world of difference.
osocubano
I’d like to own Anderson Cooper…
retrofit71
I echo what others have said, I would be Anderson Cooper’s slave anyday, anytime.
fredo777
I’m glad some of us can be so flip + light-hearted about slavery + “owning” people.
I mean, seriously? Poor taste.
Ted B. (Charging Rhino)
I find it odd that Cornelius Vanderbilt, the quintissential Northern Capitalist, would own a slave-holding plantation in South Carolina.
Can we have a fact-check? Was it owned by one of his railroad holdings?
David
Why the fuck bother bickering? They all came from someone’s slave anyway!
