Social conservatives have no sense of fun! Or, really, sense.
The Christian Right in Wisconsin raised a stink last week after hearing that Reedsburgh's Pineview Elementary had encouraged kids to cross-dress as party of a special "Wacky Week," during which the kids dressed in various costumes. Apparently dressing as a member of the opposite sex crossed a line, because radio program Voice of Christian Youth America interrupted its Friday shows for a special announcement decrying Pineview and its "error." Said station manager Jim Schneider:
We believe it's the wrong message to send to elementary students. Our station is one that promotes traditional family values. It concerns us when a school district strikes at the heart and core of the Biblical values. To promote this to elementary-school students is a great error.
Pineview principal Tammy Hayes pointed out that parents had been informed of the special day long before the radio hysterics, while administrator Tom Benson justified the school's shenanigans: "The promotion of transgenderism — that was not our purpose. Our purpose was to have a Wacky Week, mixing in a bit of silliness with our reading, writing and arithmetic." Silly Benson, don't you know silliness has no place in the classroom? If we were to let all of our young Americans dress in drag, well, we'd have an entire generation of Rudy Giulianis. And nobody wants that!
By the way, it was the kids who suggested cross-dressing as part of the "wacky week." We're not sure if that's a good or bad thing…

It's sad that these people have nothing better to do. These are the reasons that I left Wisconsin after college to be in New York, but I want to send a message to my LGBT and non-LGBT allies back home in Green Bay — don't let these people get to you. Check out the movie "For the Bible Tells Me So" and you'll definitely have a new perspective!
The message sent by HAG DRAG and GLBt Transgender community is offten hurtful, creating danger for Transsexuals and Intersex…
Let us understand those who have medical issues… Every ten minutes a child is born, 1/2500, in which the doctor cannot determine the sex, or gender. This is not talking about homosexuality, but tragically a congenital condition of birth which can be caused by endocrine agents and chemicals. These children are Intersex; they are born into a life of not male or female. Likewise in similar fashion the Transsexual is identified with a Bioneurological congenital condition, and they too are locked into something not quite so clearly defined as male, or female gender. The best we can do is live as close to what we seem to believe we are. That may preclude the wants, and often ignorant and bigoted beliefs of others. In what case do we ignore this issue and abandon the children who now cannot hide? How can anyone continue in hate and prejudice so as to deny simple equality and justice? Not an easy thing to resolve, but one that is present and will not go away. I can appreciate other’s opinions, and the freedom to express same, but I would hope all would be with regard to the children, teens, and emerging adults, and all who are not so fortunate to have been born by someone’s idea of “normal.†As a Conservative, Christian, Parent, and “Transsexualâ€, I believe the law should be equal for everyone, or it is not fit for anyone, yet, equality and recognition are still a dream for many.
