D.C. Says YES to Marriage (Which Its Most Famous Resident Doesn’t Support)

In an 11-2 vote, D.C.’s City Council followed up an earlier vote and approved same-sex marriage for the district. The bill now head’s to the desk of Mayor Adrian Fenty, who’s promised to sign it, and then Congress will have a 30-day period to leave it be (most likely) or challenge it. The vote was immediately followed by an email blast from the Human Rights Campaign asking you to donate money to the organization, and beg Archbishop Donald Wuerl not to cut the Church’s social programs. Heh. Congrats, homos.

Can’t wait for it all to pass. Shame on Councilman Barry, if he visited the people in Ward 8 he will realize that there are more homo’s here then he thought!

That’s 30 “legislative” days, meaning 30 days that the US Congress is actually in session, which it normally is not around Christmas, New Year’s , Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and sometimes on Monday. Throw in Martin Luther King Day, President’s Day, and we are hoping to have the clock finished ticking by St Patrick’s Day !
Nancy Pelosi has said that she will not bring up any challenge to the law, so we are counting on her.
