Off the deep end

DADT is ending. Bring on the genocide.

In the contest for the nuttiest nutburger on the right, Bryan Fischer has to be at least one of the top three entrants. As Director of Issue Analysis for Government and Public Policy at the American Family Association, that bright light of Tupelo, MS, Fischer has made a career out of attacking the gay bogey man that threatens to destroy everything he holds dear (like white pompadours.)

In his latest rant, Fischer proclaims that gays will commit “virtual genocide” and “a pogrom” against Christian soldiers. Of course, we thought pogroms were aimed at another religion by (ahem) some Christians, but what we do know? All this bloodshed is just waiting to happen because patriotic gay and lesbian servicemembers can now serve openly. Apparently, they’ve been waiting all this time to attack from within and bring the country down. (Oh, wait. That’s Obama!)

Right Wing Watch caught Fischer saying that gays are “the number one class of people who are committing hate crimes today,” calling gays Nazis (because we love brown shirts so much we can only guess), and comparing us to the Spanish Inquisitor Torquemada. And that was just May. So, of course, Republican presidential hopefuls like Newt Gingrich and Tim Pawlenty are beating a path to Fischer’s door.

Nothing says you love your country more than wrapping an antigay bigot in a big bear hug.
