Queerty is better as a member
Dan Savage has sold his rumored-about sex advice show Savage U to MTV. For now it’s just a 10-episode dealio and will have cameras tailing the sex talker as he trolls university campuses looking for sex students to talk about sex. [photo via]
Amirite or amirite?
Aaaand you fucked up your HTML again.
So many strike throughs.
Well Queerty, you struck out again.
Nice to know “it’s gets better” was a complete success after all…for Michael…

Oh yay. Will he bring his biphobia, too?
@Aaron: Dan Savage is biphobic? I didn’t know that. Do tell.
He used to be biphobic in that he advised gay people to date gay people and not bisexuals.
@Scott: I would advise str8 women not to date gay men. Does that make me homophobic?
@Jeffree: THat’s not even relevant.
@Tori: So, that piece of logic and analysis was your first and only comment on this thread? If you disagree with someone, do you know how to express why? Looks like you’re new to commenting on the internet. Welcome!
Smells like a troll.
Dan Savage’s face on a campaign reaching out to children makes me wonder if I am too slutty to be a gay leader. I vlog about it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuQSV6Gb7Hs
now Dan Savage can be transphobic, biphobic, and misogynistic on TV! Of course he is a total media whore so the 15 seconds of fame that MTV will give him will go to his head.
It’s clear that his whole “It gets better” campaign isn’t about helping GLBT youth-all while he trashes adult bisexuals and Trans people-but it’s just about getting him a reality TV show on MTV, fame/self promotion, and money.
Dan Savage is also highly Transphobic and does not understand people who are trans or intersexed.
Dan Savage has a lot in common with Maggie, he’s full of hatred towards trans people and bisexuals.
Dan may claim that he’s a friend and ally to women but you wouldn’t know it from his misogynistic rants in his “advice” column.
Such as where he told a woman who’d been raped that she should just STFU and have sex with her husband even though she was not over the rape and having sex with her husband gave her traumatic flashbacks about being raped.
Then there’s that racist tantrum Dan threw at African Americans in the state of CA when prop8 passed.
Why any woman or anyone at all would go to Dan Savage for any sort of “advice” is a mystery.
He’s an idiot and a tool who does not know anything about human sexuality at all.
The whole “It gets better” project was not about helping GLBT youth-all while Savage trashes adult Trans people and bisexuals-but it’s about self promotion, fame, money, getting a reality TV show on MTV, and pointless do nothing feelgood celebrity videos that don’t actually help GLBT youth at all.
“It gets better” is the stock quote every kid even straight kids are told in school when things are rough.
Sorry Dan but you don’t speak for all gay men, the gay “community” or the larger LGBT community.
@JT – Wow, so you like Dan Savage then?
You didn’t mention, however, that Dan also eats babies, turns into a werewolf (on nights with a full moon) and when changed into a wolf goes out to eat gay teens and their families.
And is in league with satan himself.
@JT – Your sweeping generalizations about Dan Savage are way off base. He’s hardly an idiot. You may disagree with his advice, but that doesn’t mean he’s not qualified to give it. His advice is largely right on target. And of course his “It Gets Better” campaign was motivated by genuine concern for gay youth. The point was to demonstrate – through actual examples – of how gay men and women have surmounted the obstacles they faced themselves as youngsters and now lead successful and fulfilling lives. You must be a real cynic and bitter person not to see the good in this initiative.
I’d venture to guess that Dan Savage has taken on more – politically and socially – than you have in his fight for gay rights. He uses his platform for the good of homosexuals and speaks to a very broad audience. His show isn’t just for gay people; he gives excellent advice to people of both sexes and a whole spectrum of sexual proclivities.
Lighten up. Seriously. Find something – or someone – who is worth the energy you’re putting into hating Dan Savage. There are many, many, many to choose from.
@JT – And let me guess: you’re a “transman.”
What’s wrong with being a Transman?
I’m not but I’ve dated Transmen and there is nothing wrong with being Trans.
Too bad Dan Savage is so biphobic and transphobic. You’d hope and expect that a gay man would not be but Savage clearly is.
I wonder when the homosexist members of the LGBT movement will findally acknowledge that bisexuals and bisexuality exist, that our sexuality is as legitamate as theirs, and that the civil and human rights that have been made for LGBT people would not have made without the involvement, commitment, hard work, and sacrifice of bisexuals. The same goes for Trans people.
Dan Savage’s bigotry is sickening and hypocritical. To know that he now has a larger platform from which to broadcast his transphobic and biphobic bigotry is not good.
For bisexuals and Trans people it does not get better with Dan Savage.
Many bisexual people and Trans people find the whole “It gets better” project by Dan Savage to be hypocritical.
He’s made a career out of being biphobic and transphobic and tells GLBT youth that “It gets better” but then trashes bisexual and trans adults.
It’s hypocritical when someone in the “community” feels that they have the right to bash bisexual people and claim that we don’t belong there or are not/never have been part of the community.
People like Dan Savage are just as bad as Rev. Fred Phelps of the Westboro Baptist church or Rick Santorum, or the Conservative Christian “family” groups.
Here are some quotes from Dan Savage that show his biphobia:
“Avoiding bi guys is a good rule of thumb for gay men looking for long-term relationships. Outside of San Francisco’s alternate-universe bisexual community, there aren’t many bi guys who want or wind up in long-term, same-sex relationships — monogamous or not.”
“I’m not saying bi guys are bad people, or they don’t make great one-night stands. Bushes, bathhouses, and sleazy gay bars are crawling with bi guys.”
“There are definitely some people who should fool around with bisexual men: OTHER BISEXUAL MEN! Jesus Christ, bisexuals — if straights and gays treat you unfairly, then why not turn to each other for love and comfort? Judging from my mail of late, there’s an unlimited supply of easily offended, extremely verbose, highly ethical bisexuals out there looking for love. Fuck each other!”
“Bisexuals all disappear into heterosexual relationships!”
One person wrote in asking about bisexuality and he told them how bisexuality exists in women but somehow it does not in men and he claimed the false porn study done by Dr. Michael J. Bailey at Northwestern that’s a joke of a study.
No it’s not relevant, gay men are not attracted to women at all so getting into a relationship with a woman is pointless for the man and the woman. Bisexual and gay men are actually sexually/romantically attracted to each other.
I agree that Dan Savage is biphobic. I heard his crap in my early twenties and it hurt then. Now i am 39 years old and I get the same shit from gays and lesbians. He is often so completely inconsistent. I know many bi men who generally prefer men and many bien who generelly prefer women. I have seen a fully identified gay man suddenly turn straight (for real) he had sex with a woman and then never went back. I also knew a psychologist who identified as straight, dated women, masturbated to straight porn etc. and suddenly turn completely gay. I ask him “didn’t you know at all?” he said “not at all”. I do believe people are probably born with a sexual orientation straight, bi, gay, but there seems to be a wild card thrown in there in my experience. The issue is Dan Savage seems to be completely insensitive to other human beings and the vaste diversity of sexual attraction, orientation, and identity.
I do however agree with Dan maybe bisexual men and women should just date each other. Unfortunately I have known many out bi women but up until recently only about five out bi men. There certainly seems to be a very different sensibility about sex and love. And I certainly have broken a few feme guys hearts in my desire for vaginas and tits and I don’t want to. The problem with Savage is he only has his one point of view. Which is lousey for a sex advise columnist. But it is also the fact that feme guys will of course seek out tops and often find them in bi men. It might be though that Dan Savages anti-bi aditude may also be anti-masculine to some extent. It is really no wonder why the “straight guys who like guys” generally stay in the closet and don’t call themselves bisexual because if they did they would have to pay the biggest price for being out: less sex, no community, Less dating, women would not touch them, dissed by gays dissed by Real straights etc. Dan really only has a narrow vision of gay men and no one else. And he can’t speak well of mixed orientation relationships even though they certainly can work.
@JT: Thank you for your comment. You expressed my sentiments exactly.
Why this jackass pretends to be an authority on anything other than being a gay man is beyond me. Just because he knows a few Trans people, does that make him an authority or Trans people? The same logic would hold true about women’s issues. He knows some lesbians so he thinks he should be a spokesman for them. He has a few black friends so I suppose that makes him an authority on racial issues too….lol. I’m glad he got glittered. Hopefully, he’ll shut his damn mouth but I doubt that is going to happen.
