Dan Savage Vs. GOProud: The Animated Series

Taiwan’s Next Media Animation is back to break down the flame war between Dan Savage and the ankle-grabbing “faggots” of GOProud.

      I really do not understand how anyone gay or straight can back Romney. If you remove every single gay issue, Romney still has no credibility and has a horrible track record. Nothing good has ever happened on his watch, and he has made his fortune by buying and dismantling companies. To try to represent him as better on the economy than Obama is just insane.

      I’m not comfortable with these Taiwanese animators tossing around the word Faggot. Would they also use the N-word if they had a reason to do so? Pretty offensive for a country with limited gay rights.

      It’s called prosperity -> see 80’s and 90’s.
      Obama is no Clinton, and Romney is no George Jr.

      As far as Savage goes, I have little patience for people who insult others.
      It’s too easy, it’s the lazy man’s response, and people will remember you for that insult all the way to your grave.

      I agree Kev C. It’s also highly offensive of the professional media whore Dan Savage to call anyone a “house f@g” since he’s not black and his ancestors were not slaves, and it’s a prime example of how he opens up his mouth and vile r@cist filth comes out.

      @Malik: Looks like the crazy race-baiting trolls are out. I guess you anti-white r@cists see all white people as r@cist no matter what the context.

      Using Malcom X’s symbolism is at MOST racially insensitive, but certainly not racist.

      You can be sure the queens in GOProud are racist.

      @Kev C: The U.S. is the only country whose people let the words “faggot” and “nigger” have so much power over them. Not to mention, millions of young Asians say “nigger” now since they listen to our rap. Furthermore, the reporter put those words in quotation marks, so they’re probably not her own. I liked the story. I do find irony in that they blocked out “motherfucker.”

      Ladies! It’s a cartoon! It’s funny! (Actually, it’s absolutely hilarious.) It’s not on the front page of the Post. NOM is offensive. This is timely and tongue-in-cheek.

      DS is also hilarious, and yes, opinionated and offensive. If you don’t like offensive, don’t click on the Dan Savage links. If you’d prefer your LGBT advocacy more polite, click to GLADD or HRC. All very civil and noncontroversial over there.

      The House-Fa**ots metaphor was wonderfully crass, and furthermore historically relevant. Equal rights are a universal concept, and voting against one’s own interests is as unfathomable now as it was then.

      If you’d like to find something to be offended by today, Google News search ‘Mark Regnerus’. And if he happens to walk across the street in from of you, do us all a favor and run him over.

      In the mean time, just add perspective.

      Those of us in Seattle and other areas of the Pacific Northwest know that Dan Savage is an opportunistic parasite who will not hesitate to throw you under the bus if you don’t fit into his vision of right wing Log-cabin-lite politics. The It Gets Better campaign does nothing to empower queer youth. In fact, we are seeing a whole generation of LGBT kids make these videos and then kill themselves, while Dan Savage tells them to pull themselves to up by their bootstraps and he profits off the dead by hawking his self-help books. what we need is action and strategy, a battle plan to help LGBT kids survive, and deal directly with the homophobes (for example, how to file a complaint and lawsuit against your school district) and not snake oil charms like the It Gets Better media sham. He’s not even that liberal politically since he completely supported the 2nd Iraq war.

      Dan Savage only started the it gets better project not to actually help LGBT youth all while practicing his right wing bigotry and hypocrisy of being transphobic, biphobic, and ra_cist; but to self promote and get a reality TV show on MTV.

      @Seattlequeer: Why is it horrible for a person to make money? Even organizers of non profits like the AIDS/Lifecycle promote so they can make a paycheck. Its not the only reason, and might not be the main reason, but yea, people need money to live. Even those who run or organize non profits, charities, blogs, etc. This whole feigned reaction of “omg he … Self promotes!!!” makes me not buy into your entire argument.

      @Seattlequeer:
      (1) I fail to see how geographic proximity to Seattle is relevant.

      (2) In what ways has he ‘thrown someone under the bus’? He’s always flying solo in attack mode, not collaborating or coordinating with anyone. Your statement is nonsensical.

      (3) It Gets Better: You have no idea what you’re talking about.

      And “profits… dead… hawking his books”? Did you really just type that? Really? STFU.

      However, if you’re proffering a grand plan you’ve developed that will address the problems of gay youth everywhere, and which won’t get blocked by the GOP, by all means roll it out. I’m ready to contribute.

      (4) Dan’s a successful quasi-celebrity by virtue of his outragiousness, extreme rhetoric, and lack of P.C. So what? If you’re in the mood to vent about that, wouldn’t Bill O’Neil be a better target? Glenn Beck? Rush Limbaugh?

      If you’re trying to make the case that DS is not an advocate (no pun intended) for LGBT rights, the facts are not in your favor.

      No. 2 · Kev C wrote, “I’m not comfortable with these Taiwanese animators tossing around the word F-gg-t. Would they also use the N-word if they had a reason to do so? Pretty offensive for a country with limited gay rights.”

      Keep in mind that American English is most likely not the translator’s first language so that some subtleties in word usage may have escaped them.

      @ Seattlequeer, I think you “cut and past” the same post any time Savage is mentioned in this blog. Either try writing something new and relevant or stopping posting the same fucking rant. Enough already!

      PS: Dan Savage rocks! He’s one of my heroes. Dan keep up the good work.
