Speaking yesterday at the memorial service for the six people lost during the Safeway shooting rampage on Saturday, Daniel Hernandez Jr., who helped save the life of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, continues to reject to label of “hero” when there are folks like “public servants, and the first responders, and the people who made sure they have dedicated their life to taking care of others.” Moreover, adds Hernandez, “what defines us is not the differences, it is that we all together, we are all a family, we are all Americans.”

Could you move this to the top of your page in the featured story space? This is definitely a story to promote, someone we can look up to who is humble and real, a person rarely seen in the gay press.

I agree with Jack too. This guy very much deserves the label of hero.
