It’s interesting that it’s deemed shocking. For me, there’s something very strange about that because we see straight sex scenes all the time. We’ve seen gay sex scenes before. I don’t know why a gay sex scene should be any more shocking than a straight sex scene. Or both of them are equally un-shocking…What weirded me out the most last night was people were asking me all these questions about the gay sex scenes. I was like, ‘You know I did Equus?’ Some people are asking me questions like this is a more shocking subject, which is so strange.”
— During an interview with MTV News, Daniel Radcliffe put his oft-discussed sex scenes from Kill Your Darlings in perspective by bringing up that time he horsed around naked on Broadway.

I guess some people are still shocked that a film about a gay man includes gay sex.

^This.
We’re all suppose to be asexual stereotypes, not fleshed out beings with desires, and emotions.

DR is just dreamy in the vid.

“You know I did Equus, right?” is pretty pertinent; other stories I’ve seen on this act like Radcliffe jumped right from Harry Potter to this and has never done anything else. As if all that exists is movies and TV, and they’ve never even heard of the stage.

America is obsessed with gay sex…why?
alterego1980
@balehead: Personally, I think it’s been a transformation, and probably a good one. The generic populace has gone from repulsion to fascination or from “it’s not cool to talk about” to “we can talk about whatever we want”. I think it’s similar to when a man comes out in his 20’s or later and goes from years of this conservative, straight acting facade, to all of a sudden out and proud and looking to screw everything that walks.

@balehead:
I think the ones that are using religious arguments against gays and gay sex are obsessed with it because there are so many condemnations (depending on one’s or a particular group’s interpretation of the bible) against sex, in general, that I think they are doing this sort of “sin” scale…
Measuring their own transgressions of “forniction” (or “adultery”) against same sex activity, they can say “Well, OK, I’m a sinner, but THOSE PEOPLE are an ABOMINATION!” That way, they can (apparently) lessen some of the guilt (and damnation) that they may be feeling.
Just a thought.
