Davey Wavey’s Grandfather Forgot He’s Gay

Davey Wavey’s grandfather — his dad’s dad — is just about the only person in the world who doesn’t know he’s gay. Which actually isn’t true: He does know. He just keeps forgetting.

Hey Davey, perhaps accepting that not everyone wants to ‘get it’, whether it’s generational, or purely old age, is just part of being who we are. Not everyone will embrace who you are – that’s okay, as long as you have.

Grandpa must be senile if he can’t tell that nelly queen is gay.

Setting aside the obvious hate here for Davey (I personally could take him or leave him), it’s an interesting and perplexing issue.

Why not address that, for the benefit of everybody, instead of your own venom?

Lucky grandfather. I wish we’d be allowed to forget.

His chest is just too big in the worst way. It looks like a weird boob job.

I would marry him just to keep his grandad from asking, then, on the wedding night, I’d watch him and his boyfriend make love all night… does this make me an evil person? :P

I was just watching Daveys latest post, my friend was in the other room, not being able to view who was speaking and she yelled out “I can’t figure out what you are watching, why is that woman’s Grandfather upset she has a boyfriend?” :p

I have no problem with DW, I think he is harmless and is only trying to earn coin thru the internets……Plus seeing that his rather large tool can definatley make some HUGE waves doesn’t hurt…. :O (or it probably would……..)

That has happened to me, and to my partner. And the people doing it weren’t homophobic or senile, what they are is heterocentric to a total extent. People walk around never encountering anything or anyone gay in a way that is meaningful to them, because they don’t identify with our reality at all. I have a sister who I could swear is convinced my personal life and the way I live, love, etc. is totally meaningless to her greater self interests in life. Is it self centered? sure. But then it is also not homophobic per-se to me. She was always as the oldest bossy, stubborn, yet very protective until I came out and the protectiveness disappeared. Weird, huh? It’s like she believes she’s being considerate by treating a whole part of my life as invisible. I had an ex who died recently, (Norm, R.I.P. handsome) and she said “Who was Norm?” I was like whaaat? Remember all those BBQ’s in summer, the partner I had Norm? Salt and pepper hair? Lot’s of jokes? Norm!” She finally said, “Ooooh yeah, you’ve always been gay”. I told her she was just freaking dingy. I remember all of her ex’s, and I don’t forget that she’s straight! And we’re in our mid forties, but this has been going on for almost 30 years. It just wasn’t a pattern until I had some history on it.

He looks very good to me…..bulked up since he first started appearing here on Queerty. Actually I rather admire him, to have developed a following talking about rather ordinary things but done in a unique way.

I am probably not so close to my Grandmother & her brother (my great Uncle & his wife) as I am dutiful – always took them out for Easter Dinner, Mother’s Day & Father’s Day Dinners since all the rest of our family has moved out of state. I drove with one hand, held my boyfriend’s with the other and all three of them were in the backseat. Several times this occurred and the comments & conversation were obviously completely ignoring the fact he was my boyfriend. I didn’t kiss him in front of them because he was shy and it never seemed appropriate. Maybe that would have been a clue.

@adman: Sorry your sister is so inconsiderate…for a “big” sis sounds like she has a lot of growing up to do :-/

So I have a great-grandmother who is still with us (I’m 29) and until a few years ago, at every family gathering she’d ask me if I had a girlfriend yet. She got it after about the third time I just dropped a simple “nope!” that I was perhaps never going to have one. And since taking my boyfriend of 2.5 years to Christmas a few times there’s no question :-) Probably helps that my aunt is partnered with a kid and everyone’s known this for years…

Nonetheless I do respect that it could be a generational / cultural thing for a senior to take a few tries to process the news. Their thinking is set in the 1940′s or so, after all. Consider my own “Nana the great” is still racist as all getout… you can take the girl from Nebraska but not the other way around. Oh well.

#15 – If you aren’t complaining about Davey’s video, you have no reason to be rude to me for saying the same thing, which by the way was not a complaint on my part. And I’m hardly “not” having a life by taking them out 3x a year. There are still 362 other days in it.

Ha ha #21 – it was a very short trip, not in heavy traffic and I wasn’t holding his hand continuously!
