There was a lot of Bowie going around on Monday, the day after the iconic artist left this planet to take his place among the stars.

Over on music streaming service Spotify, users were listening to Bowie at 2,700% higher rates than the previous day, and we expect many incredible tribute concerts in the near future.

Fun. Thanks for these. It gives me the blues.

A enormously great talent, yes, but Bowie wasn’t the most gay-friendly character. Especially when AIDS hit and gay or bi wasn’t considered so cool anymore. Then he was so, “I’m straight, I’m straight !”

Joeyty, He was polite. Even a few nurses ran from this disease. Not everyone can cope with this kind of disaster. With all of its ramifications and pall, some need to retreat. Sensitive artists who live in their own worlds cannot commit. It kills the flame. It wasn’t his role to represent gays. His art did represented and, for this, I’m grateful. He helped many come out by desensitizing our culture to differentness. Those with genius minds must be allowed to do what it is they do. Overall, he moved the needle in our favor. Creative.
