Debunking the Lies of Hate Crime Protection Foes

Videos from Rob Tisinai serve two purposes: The handsome gent serves as eye candy, and he accurately tears apart anti-gay myths perpetuated by lying right-wing organizations with missions of spreading hate. Just last month Rob helped us debunk the falsehoods of “traditional marriage” supporters. Now he’s going after the Traditional Values Coalition, an organization literally founded to keep gay people as second-class citizens. What sort of lies about hate crimes legislation is TVC shoving down our throats?

I love his videos. He is absolutely incredible at getting his point across in a factual manner.

The low view count on this article, and the absolute 0 lack of comments really irks me, and I think it’s a signal of bigger problems. Next to this you have some model’s butt, it has thousands of views and several comments.

Why do things related to our rights come into second place to ass? Seriously?

Wow. Where was Rob during the Prop 8 fiasco? Nevermind, I should focus on the positive: kudos to him for taking the time to put this together. He is a great resource. I imagine some modern version of the Lincoln-Douglas debates, Rob delivering a blistering but infallible argument for equality…the world erupts in applause…Democrats and Republicans embrace…City Halls across the US fill with LBGT persons waiting to register their marriage…. But I digress -> seriously, Rob, keep it up. Great work.

It’s good to debunk the lies…but…dontcha know, the lies haven’t changed since they were first devised…decades ago.

@Calvin: I rather suspect that there’s not that much for us to debate – many queers already know that the Religious Reich has a fundamental problem with the concept of “honesty”.

What we all need to do now is show this video to wavering friends and family members. Changing minds and hearts is where real equality is at, and Rob Tisinai’s last two videos can do just that.

For the record, I think Rob Tisinai is more attractive than any of the Morning Goods or Gratuitous Skin guys of the last week (yes, I checked them all before I clicked “submit”) so if I was silent it’s probably because I was replacing yet another drool-ruined keyboard.

Amazing!! He needs to go toe to toe on tv with them. FANTASTIC, clear thinking, thoughtful, well-worded, calm, rational.

Amazing!

@Calvin: For me at least it’s because it’s a video. I’m much more likely to *read* an article, partly because my internet connection sometimes slows to a crawl and more often than not if I do wait for it to load it turns out not to be that good anyway. Others may be browsing at work or somewhere else where they need the sound turned off. Also, the description doesn’t do the content justice. “Gratuitous Skin” speaks for itself.
