"The number of U.S. hate groups has increased by 48 percent, to 888, since 2000, according to experts at the Southern Poverty Law Center, an independent organization that monitors racist movements." [WaPo]

I guess the upside is that most of it is internet-driven BS rather than actual public visibility, much like queer (so-called) activism.
Hmm…perhaps what this country needs besides a good five-cent cigar, is another old-fashioned Grapes of Wrath scenario to drive these people to their knees praying for a roof over their heads, a bed to sleep in and food on the table do that they won't have so much time, money and energy to be snooping around in other people bedrooms and sniffing trans people out of public toilets.
Just sayin'…
Where, exactly, do you see a decade of prosperity?
I'm seeing a decade of war… of soldiers dying and what is a blatant manifest destiny of democracy on other nations… with the President pulling a "mea culpa" and a bunny out of his hat…
with stock markets crashing (so much so that my 401(K) lost 56% in six months…) I see 750 billion dollar stimulus packages being denied, approved, and then squandered… I'm seeing foreclosures on a rapid rise, and even more exacerbated increase in the gap between the haves and the have-nots with a rapid decline in the middle class, and a rapid increase in the lower class… I'm seeing CEO's with golden parachutes bailing out of their companies as they go belly up… and the unemployment rate increasing with each passing day… I'm seeing departments like Job and Family Services, whose duty it is to help ailing households financially in the red… with so little money and so few staff, it's likely a good thing they're ill equipped to handle the incoming requests for assistance….
but you know what I'm not seeing?
Prosperity.
There's no wander that racism and prejudice are on the rise — you have to blame somebody for everything going bad.
