I never saw GOOD MONEY, but this is what a smarmy casting director would say and do and if he portrayed a CD, then the dialogue rings true. If the people who saw GOOD MONEY never saw this scene, then it still could be from the movie as it might be an outtake. However, as there doesn’t appear to be any way to date the clip, I would suggest that it is (1) not recent — more later, or (2) from a film for the reasons that junior gives (hair and makeup). Explanation of point (1): if you look at recent Cavett pics, he looks his age (71) and then some. In the clip, he looks much younger. GOOD MONEY was released in 1996 but was probably made even before that. This would account for him looking younger (along w/hair and makeup). In any case, it is either a VERY funny and convincing performance or a very convincing interaction from his life. NB. A lot of people thought Carrie Nye was a man; she wasn’t, but she give a lot of DQs a run for their money. Having been married to an Amazonian female (Cavett is dainty and petit) doesn’t make a guy straight. It doesn’t make him queer either. If the clip is a big hoax, I wish the dudes who sent it to you had waited until April first. I did enjoy it though. Thank you for reading. I’ve seen good money, and the scene in that movie shows bosgang in a discussion with cavett. That was years ago though…. This is far different. Are we still sure this isn’t real?

If it is, where is cavett, and where are the folks that released this? I’m trying to find it on netflix and amazon and can’t. Does anyone have a copy?

If it were fake, you one would think that Dick would be out there denouncing this.
Why would they just send this clip?

Yes it is from the low budget film. But here’s what people here seem to think: If Cavett is playing a role in a film, then in real life he must be straight, and his having been married (albeit to an actress often compared to Tallulah Bankhead) affirms his straight credentials. Now, I’m not saying I know for sure, because, for one thing, Cavett was never a major star and not so closely scrutinized. But here’s what I’ve always thought- Is it possible for someone like, say, Tony Randall, who looked and sounded gay, could astonish audiences with his appreciation of dance, showtunes and opera, is it possible for him to be straight? My answer is negative. I wrote to a NY writer, who shall be nameless, and asked him. He said that I was right, but Randall’s obituaries would never mention he was gay, out of “respect” for Randall. Some years later, the issue came up again with Merv Griffin. Then the issue WAS broached, but not everywhere. When Cavett kicks off- hopefully in the far future- well, we shall see…

He’s happily married to Carrie Nye. I’ve seen them together, they’re a very loving couple. This is beyond pathetic. Scarecrow, it not only gives blogs a bad name, it gives all fags a bad name. it’s part of that “Gay until proven innocent.” Lot of self-hating going from the “anonymous reader.” (Unless it was a prank, in which case Queerty has been hoaxed but good.)

Lord, do some research folks! It really is a scene from “Good Money.” As one review states of Cavett’s character, “Dick Cavett is an absolute hoot as a smarmy casting director who attempts to make Bosgang sexual offers he can’t refuse.” Jeremiah Bosgang is the writer, director, and star of the film. Ill-informed postings like this are what give blogs a bad reputation. Post a correction, okay?

The fact that anyone would think this is real is kind of scary. The man is clearly in full film hair and make-up and the lighting is so bright, I’m surprised there isn’t a guy holding a huge light reflector behind him.
