If Maine’s legislature can get it to his desk — and it appears it can — Democratic Gov. John Baldacci, who previously signed an anti-gay discrimination law, allows us to believe he’ll sign the bill. And how did he share the news? With a phone call to a certain blogger, which hopefully isn’t just lip service to the gays. Looks like he’s managed to overcome criticism from those nine protesters.
the governor never specifically said he would support it guys… let’s not get ahead of ourselves (though i do share your enthusiasm for the likelihood that this might happen). also, let’s remember that even if all this happens, the bill will probably end up in front of the voters come november. we really ought to be gearing up for that. like ru paul would say “do not f* it up” dear like we royally did in california!
It’s times like this I feel not-so-bad about having grown up in that godforsaken patch of woods.
With the bill being fasttracked and getting excellent support, near veto proof in the Senate today on revote, I just can’t see this nice guy vetoing. I predict he’ll actually sign it into law, whereas in New Hampshire, Lynch will not sign nor veto.
Call and email the Maine House and Governor and encourage them to pass marriage equality.

Nice. A receding hairline is a sign of virility (excess testosterone). If I lived in Maine – I’d do him.
