Jacky Davis, a transwoman (born Jacob) prostitute, stands accused of stabbing her live-in boyfriend Arthur Arnold to death in Bakersfield, Calif. And yes, there were drugs involved. But it was self-defense, she claims; the deceased said otherwise before he died in the hospital. Ugh. “She is accused of murdering Arthur Arnold, 45. She said they lived together — between breakups — for six years in a small trailer in a mobile home park at 3730 K St., near Sam Lynn ball park. Davis said she met Arnold when the two were in jail in 2002, when Arnold was awaiting trial on a misdemeanor charge of inappropriately touching two girls. In a jailhouse interview Wednesday with Channel 17’s Kiyoshi Tomono, Davis said she and Arnold were using methamphetamines Saturday when they began to argue. ‘He lost it,’ Davis said in the interview. ‘He lost it in his head and went crazy. I’ve never seen that look in his eyes before.’ She said Arnold chased her out of the home with a knife. There was a struggle, and Davis grabbed another knife. ‘I stabbed him to get him away from me. I just wanted him to get away from me. I’m not a violent person. I’m really not a violent person. I just wanted him to get away from me.’ Arnold was taken by ambulance to Kern Medical Center, where he died Tuesday morning. While he was in the hospital, he told investigators Davis had stabbed him.” [KGET]

Queerty, stop telling gay people and especially gay kids that their identities are the same as “transgendereds” and that the kind of disordered behavior described above has anything to do with their lives.

It’s newsstories like this that reinforce in the mind of the public the idea that gay men want to be women. There is a gaping, fundamental difference between people who are transgendered (uncomfortable with the gender they were born) and people who are gay (sexually attracted to their own gender). So why are gay and transgendered people linked together (as in GLBT) as if there is no difference between the two?

Great point. I completely agree with you. This linkage of gays with transsexuals, cross-dressers, and hermaphrodites has been forced on us without any explanation or debate. It is bullshit. The vast majority of people in these groups is straight.
When anyone questions the reasons for linking us with transgendereds, you usually hear something like “Well, the bigots put us in the same category.” To which I say: Who cares what the bigots do? They put gay people in the same category as criminals, deviants, communists, molesters, etc. When they make these associations, we challenge them, we don’t embrace them and define ourselves based on what bigots say.
While I have nothing against transgendered people, I resent the idea that I and other gay people are forced to identify ourselves as “LGBT”. This is an attack on our right to define ourselves and our community.
