It really should be Madonna’s year.
She’s got a new album out (although it’s been panned by critics and fans), she’s about to embark on an international tour this fall, and her adoption of David Banda, once mired in controversy, is finally being made official.
And then she had to come to New York.

I haven't really read any negative reviews about Hard Candy. Well except for maybe on here…
I'm tired of Queerty's subtle digs at Madonna. I understand if you have a problem with her presumptive "gay icon" status, but her recent album has not been panned by critics and fans. There have been negative, mixed, and positive reviews and the album has sold well.
Let's try and be mature.
I'll commit gay blasphemy and admit I'm not ga-ga over Madge's latest album and incarnation. However… I'm in the minority. It received mostly glowing reviews. For Queerty to ignore that reality is akin to Focus on the Family ignoring the reality of gay families. Come on Queerty, keep at least a semblance of truth. You lose credibility daily with such postings.
Panned?
Just because YOU don't like it, don't try to feed your readers with your bullshit.
Where is that can of spray you hold up everytime something stinks?
Panned??? The only queens who've panned "Hard Candy" are bitter Mariah lambs who hate that Madonna has another great record. "Hard Candy" has been called 'amazing' by listeners who aren't even Madonna fans. And the original writer of this post can't even get the lyrics to "Candy Shop" right!!! Queen Puh-lease!!! If you're gonna throw shade on M, at least get your facts 'straight'. The truth is "4 Minutes" is M's biggest hit in years and now the queens are living for "Give It 2 Me". Not even these ugly divorce/affair rumors will stop her!!! Long live her royal Madge-esty!!!
>>>For Queerty to ignore that reality is akin to Focus on the Family ignoring the reality of gay families.<<<
Sorry, but how discussing a pop star in any context compares to what Focus on The Family does is unfathomable to me.
Martymartymary: lighten up. The point in comparing Queerty to Focus on the Family is to nudge Queerty into being better journalists and not a lame, over-the-top, biased blog that says any old thing to get a reaction from the readers. I expect more from Queerty–even in the realm of pop star discussions.
A-Rod not doing well with his hot wife? Seems to be lost in something that isn't real? now he's obsessed with Madonna?
WILL THE GAY RUMORS ABOUT THE MAN JUST NOT QUIT??
(lol)
Xylitol: Who are you to tell me to lighten up? Your comparison was ridiculous – Focus on The Family does true evil, Queerty just thinks Madonna is a tart and will not have his mind changed. One matters, the other does not. An opinion on a pop star is nowhere near equivalent to what Focus on The Family does. Get serious!!!
Hard Candy is a great ablum and has not left my CD player since I got it the day it came out.
Hard Candy received a rating of 65 on Metacritic, which means generally positive (tho not stellar) reviews with only a few notable negative ones, mostly from popular blogs and British press.
I don't know what CD most of you were listening to – HARD CARNDY is AWFUL …. maybe the beginning of the end for this mess
