If you were ordained or studying for ministry before the changes by the psychiatric associations, and when there were few liberal theologians whose contextualism extended to us, it was easy to go on the "down low" or to keep your private life very closeted and private.

At that time, you realised that you had few friends and many opponents who could ruin your career. That was then, and this is now.

I am not African-descended and have no idea whatsoever what it is to be profiled due to race.
I also know that men were emasculated by racist bigots. I also know through black clergy friends and colleagues that a black gay man is subject to total derision by his race. The "down low" was the hypocritical alternative to open assumption. Then, it was important to be the top of the duo.

Again, I will pray for both of these clergy. They are both in a minefield and both will have to live with their theological views and their own demons. Senator Obama has probably unleashed more of a firestorm with unintended consequences for all three of them.

I have enjoyed sharing with you on this medium. Nigel and I and our son are leaving on a short holiday to the UK this weekend. I may or may not have time to comment upon some new topics as we prepare to leave and get our toddler ready to go.

This is a huge problem that is ignored by most people. It is also one that affects a huge amount of lesbian and gay people who are even more messed up wondering whether God created them gay or whether their sexual abuse did. A horrible shame that a gift from God can become so perverted by human abuse.

Donnie — and so many more child victims of rape and abuse — need our prayers, understanding and love.

Many Gay & Lesbian Christians have been uplifted by Donnie, even while he has hurt them also by making us feel sinful, rather than the blessed children of God. I mean specifically, being made gay, God has given us a special understanding of how what the world says about Jesus, God and all our unique and blessed relationships with the Most High. We do not have it so easy that we believe so much of the idolatry that passes as faith. We have to really pray, study, wrestle with God and passionately desire our greatest relationship with God through the Holy Spirit. While… hard to understand when we are young, but a serious blessing when we are older and wiser … our blessed creation as gay and lesbian Christians. Hallelujah, Lord Jesus, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven, Glory to God!

Donnie is still gay just maybe not practicing it now. I can respect that he wants to remain single and devote his life to the Lord. I'm sure he still has gay temptations however. Do I think he's magically turned on by women now? No.

OK, really you can't judge someone unless you have the facts at your fingertips. Whether one has read his book, those blogs all over the place or heard from someone, Pastor Donnie McClurkin was thrust into a lifestyle that really was not his choice through rape by uncle and later cousin. He talks about (in his book) how he had that sexual ambiguity for 20 yrs, but God delivered him as he surrendered to him in his walk.

Truth be said, the devil will never be happy for losing Donnie Mcclurkin, so that is why he lashes out at him through whatever means. But more truth, God had him in mind before he ever knew he would exist, he had a plan for his life to reach many souls, tough as his experiences were, God has used them to reach many lives for himself. God knew there can only be one Donnie Mcclurkin, just like you and me, and that he had to be on his side, his wonderful child through whom he will touch the nations for himself. Whether through song or preaching, God is doing just that and remembers nothing about his past. If we think we have seen what God can do with Donnie Mcclurkin, we ain't seen nothing yet, let us stay tuned, more is coming, far much greater than what God has done with him.

Pastor Donnie, keep preaching and worshipping your maker like never before, if attacks are being hurled against you out there, hey, the devil and crew should be reminded we are praying for you too, an army all around the world, that Christ be preached through the ministry God has bestowed upon you. Some people may have given you a couple of years to see if you really mean what you say/preach, on this, even to your old age, he is there waiting to watch over you too. Even if we forgot and slept on the job, JESUS is forever interceding for you, all the heavenly host is rooting for you and when you win, we win all of us, to the devil's shame, well, what else does he deserve but that and worse!

How Donnie Mcclurkin looks (e.g., someone may say he looks so gay) matters less to God, one thing for sure, there is a certain level of humility around this man that is even rare with many ministers of the gospel, he preaches what he lives and really, the rate at which God is moving with him, I doubt there is any room for looking back at anything, now that is a news flash for the devil and crew. Pastor Donnie, STAND, and after you have done everything, just STAND, God is for you not against you.
