Drag Queen Nurse Ray Fetcho Got His Job Back. But Not Before Losing His Health Insurance (And His Leg)

Ray Fetcho is the Florida registered nurse who lost his job over a “lewd conduct charge” for hosting a wet underwear contest as his drag persona Tiny Tina. While he managed to find another nursing gig, he didn’t make it to his first day before losing a leg from complications with diabetes after an infection grew much worse. Because the “lewd conduct charge” kept him out of work, he had no health insurance when he was hospitalized. He is 62, which means he doesn’t qualify for Medicaid. His partner set up an account in Fifth Third Bank in Ft. Lauderdale to accept donations that will go toward the cost of Fetcho’s recuperation, wheelchair, ramp installation, and yes, those hospital bills he must now cover himself.
