Remember Duanna Johnson, the trans prostitute beat down by police in Memphis? Well, since the video tape emerged, Johnson says she’s received a “tremendous” number of phone calls from trans folk people who claim cops beat them, too. Official records indicate a total of forty reported incidents, but Johnson and others suspect there’s more where that came from. Every single employee who witnessed this and allowed it to happen should be fired and brought up on charges. This kind of assault is already reprehensible but when it comes from the people paid to protect us it’s ten times worse
As far as I know, in some states if not all, failure to report a crime or intervene is a crime itself. All the staff who were present and failed to intervene should be punished on some level.
