Dude Looks Like a Lady … And Stabbed For It

A 19-year-old Cincinnati area man who went to a house expecting to meet a girl instead found a 27-year-old man waiting for him, wearing a wig and a dress. The visitor summarily stabbed the cross-dresser with a butcher knife he found in the kitchen. [Cincinnati.com]

Well, I guess I would be annoyed if I cruised someone online, was told he was a man. Then went around there to find in fact it was a woman!

My annoyance, however, would be dependent upon how far I had travelled etc.

I don't think I would stab her though.

The stabbing aspect seems to be a straight macho reaction to having one's masculinity threatened.

Call me old-fashioned, but I'd say that you only have the right to harm someone in self-defense, let alone with a butcher knife.

Jaime@Jaime: Fuck you and your opinion.

This person made a stupid choice, as did the attacker.

Nice victim blaming folks! There is absolutely no excuse for it. Nor is there any excuse for the transphobia. Jerks.

i can't beleive these comments.
there is absolutely nothing funny about violence against trans people.
i'm sure there was more to the episode than i understand, but i still find it horrific that someone is stabbed because they don't fit another person's expectation of gender.

i don't find gay bashing funny, as i guess most readers here do. so why is trans bashing suddenly a joke?

I couldn't agree more Sean. No excuse for this in any form.

So … since Queerty, Towleroad, and Joe My God generally post most of the same stories on any given day, why is it that they don't have the same population of commenters?

That is to say, why are the people at Queerty so much more vulgar, stupid, and hateful than the commenters at other similar sites? Is it because the site is part of Jossip?

@Sean:

Nice victim blaming indeed. As if murder, committed when there is not even a shred of evidence that the attackers life was in any way jeopardized by the cross dresser, is justifiable. I am appalled by the response some posters on this thread have made. Taht is just so homophobe str8 boy macho mentality.

I will be even more appalled, most likely, when we learn that the murderer gets off with a lighter sentence for murder, than Boy George did simply for handcuffing someone to a bed and messign with his computer.

Charged with assault, and the article doesn't say the victim died… do we know that it *is* murder?
