Following Lee Ryan’s acknowledgement of rumors that he was 100 percent gay, in which he stated he was “unfazed” by the speculation, fellow Blue member Duncan James has spoken regarding his own fluid sexuality.
He revealed yesterday that he could “still easily sleep with a woman” despite being totally gay.
His sentiment echoes Ryan’s, who said earlier this week that “sexuality doesn’t need to be defended or justified.” It also further asserts that Jessie J, a struggling musician who claimed this week that bisexuality was a “phase” some people can “grow out of,” is a complete hack.
Duncan James had long been known as bisexual, but later revealed that he was completely gay. His latest comments come via an interview with Gay Star News:
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
I think to myself, I sleep with men, so that makes me gay. Regardless of whether I sleep with women or not, I’m still sleeping with men so I’m gay.
So I’m still attracted to women, I could still easily sleep with a woman. I haven’t in the last couple of years but I think if I meet a girl I could still have a relationship with her.
I do say I’m gay, but I don’t really care about labels. I don’t really care if people want to call me bisexual or gay.
He also claimed he initially came out as “bisexual” because “at the time, it was just easier to use the word.” Ahem.

Oh I get it, the original headline was to long to publish- “Non-celebrity Theoretically Still Would Sleep Women He Theoretically Is Attracted To But Says He’s Gay, Plays the ‘Fluid Sexuality’ Card Like He’s the First”.
Yawn.
Black Pegasus
Men who refer to themselves as “bisexual” are among the most narcissistic groups of people I know. We all know it’s a bunch of bulldunk, but if these designations make them feel better about themselves then oh well.. lol
Mr. E. Jones
If I looked like that, I would fuck as many people as I could.

I like Duncan James because he doesn’t really give a stuff.
When boyband Blue was at the height of its popularity, he was regularly voted the sexiest man in pop by all its teen fans. He’d also fathered a daughter (upon whom he dotes) with a girlfriend and his mother is a strong Catholic (albeit entirely supportive of her son and his sexuality).
He had a lot to go through before he could accept own his sexuality, and when he came out, he did it under his own terms. He’s probably bisexual but identifies far more to the gay end of the spectrum.
His bandmate, Lee Ryan, is also bisexual, but identifies far more to the straight end of the spectrum.
What’s so pleasant about both of them (and their other two bandmates,Anthony Costa and Simon Webb) is that they’re not hung up about sexuality and seem to recognise the truth of their own selves in a way that Jesse J and Nicki Minaj don’t.

I have no idea who the heck these people are, but…
There are real bona fide bisexuals, but then there are those guys who say they are bisexual because of homophobia; they don’t want to be associated with gays. The former is fine. The latter is not acceptable.
LubbockGayMale
“I’m afraid if I claim to be gay, no one will hire me!” is his real statement. Confused, no; scared, probably.
kevininbuffalo
@dazzer:
He is whatever he says he is, We all get to define ourselves. And besides he’s so freaking hot why not fuck anything that says yes?
B Damion
Why the hell did I click into this stupid sh*t.
skcord
Yeah guys… and being gay is a phase and lesbians just haven’t met the right man…. how is cliche skepticism of homosexuality any different than gays treatment of bisexuals? It is his right to define himself, none of you are the sexuality police.
hotshot70
actually, we are all “bi”, just most of us are so far to the male or female preference. Saying you are bi is like announcing. “I am a human being” or “I have two eyes”. I means very little.
Zodinsbrother
@hotshot70: That’s actually as offensive as saying bi doesn’t exist. I’m Gay not in any way bi.
dazzer
@kevininbuffalo:
I get what you’re saying and you’re right The second anyone in public life comes out as anything other than straight, they have to start justifying themselves
PRINCE OF SNARKNESS aka DIVKID
For the life of me I can’t fathom the reason for the hostility aimed at this hot (and famously hung) stud’s statement. Seems to be the usual projection, insecurity, jealousy(?). Mentally well adjusted gay men who are secure in their sexual identity and sense of manhood don’t obsess over the nature and supposed shortcomings of bisexuals. Just sayin’!
davincibarnette
@hotshot70: Actually, you need to speak for yourself and ONLY yourself.
Captain Obvious
@Black Pegasus: I want to marry this post and have truth telling babies with it. So tired of the nonstop faux bisexuality parade.
If anything their bandwagon nonsense is making me question if bisexuality even exists. Too many wannabes looking to be different and “edgy”. Bisexuality is so 80s that it’s almost funny to read this crap from people who think they’re being original.
Maozedong
I think he can sleep with dogs for money
samwise343
Gay men who don’t like bisexual are afraid. They’re afraid of falling in love with a man who turns out to be bisexual because the guy might cheat on them with a woman. Simple as that.
Aaron
Who the heck is this guy and why does he matter? Did he blow someone at Queerty?
sejjo
I’m as gay as a goose and laugh whenever someone says with confident certainty that everyone on earth is at least bi. I think, “speak for yourself”.
I just couldn’t sleep with a woman – not even if there was a picture of a man on the headboard. That being said, His Ambiguous Majesty above is super hot!
Maozedong
@samwise343: why gay men afraid their bi bf cheat on them with women, gay bf can cheat on them with men, what is the difference?
GeriHew
If Duncan James doesn’t really care if people want to call him bisexual or gay then I’ll keep referring to him as bisexual. Because that makes more sense to me. And also out of respect to those gay men and women who clearly feel that the term gay should be reserved for those who are exclusively homosexual.
Stevenw
@PRINCE OF SNARKNESS aka DIVKID: Can’t speak for anyone else – I don’t understand the anti-bisexuality display all that much – but in the specific case of Duncan James, I’ve heard (from people in the know) that he is famously arrogant and difficult to work with.
The other bandmates are fine – even Lee, who could give Joey from Blossom a run for his money in the ‘nice-but-dim’ category.
Still, look at those abs!
If only I had nothing I needed to do all day but go to the gym.
And had willpower.
GeriHew
@Black Pegasus: Presumably that’s the royal “we” you’re using there, so may one enquire which realm you are the queen of?
PRINCE OF SNARKNESS aka DIVKID
@GeriHew: ” So may one enquire which realm you are the queen of?”
That would be cypheravenue.com…until he got his ass handed to him — royally.
misterhollywood
Handsome dude and at least he is trying to keep himself real. I give him credit. It will only be a matter of time before he identifies as full on gay.
TheChrisBlake84
These people do our community no justice at all.
Billy Budd
Please remember that he is not the first to use the bisexual label as a defense against prejudice. Tom Daley himself said he “still liked girls”, and later admitted he was totally homosexual. People are scared.
Black Pegasus
@GeriHew: Is your comment meant to be cryptic? I have no idea what you’re trying to ask or convey.
@PRINCE OF SNARKNESS aka DIVKID: Glad you’re a follower…Stay reading, and stay mad lol..
Zodinsbrother
It’s amazing hoe judgey people can be. You’d think as LGBT people we’d know better and let people define themselves how they see fit and not seek to do the job for them.
Blackceo
@Zodinsbrother:
Exactly. I totally believe bisexuality exists and that its not a learner’s permit to full gayness or a pit stop to being fully gay. How dare someone try and claim it doesn’t exist and try and redefine someone else’s identity. Are there people who claim bisexuality when they are actually gay?? Sure. Those people mess it up for those who are truly bisexual. But to say it is bogus when someone identifies as bisexual is just wrong. Sometimes people need to stay in their lane and STFU!!
Billy Budd
I’ve met and had sex with a few bisexuals. They do exist.
GeriHew
@Black Pegasus: If you find my comment somewhat cryptic and need some clues, then I suggest that you look at my first post here (2 comments above the reply to you).
Black Pegasus
@GeriHew: ok that still doesn’t make your earlier reply to me make any sense. Other than the two of us disagreeing about bisexuality I still have no idea what you’re talking about.
Max the Communist
How very nice that Duncan found it easy to identify as bisexual and just as easy to discard it.
For those of us who are bisexual, however, Duncan James has just made our lives harder. We’re out as bisexual and mean it–but our troubles are nothing to him, since we are the ones who have to deal with the negative impact that his lies and deceptions leave in his wake.
You have no respect for our lives, like you had no respect for our identity, Duncan. You are the faker and the liar. Meanwhile, real bisexuals face more depression, more anxiety, more suicidality than their straight or gay counterparts. Thanks for nothing for contributing to our suffering.
Lamesy
@Black Pegasus: Geri was making a joke about the use of “We all know…” in your first post. “Royal we” really just means first person singular. S/he’s basically saying, “speak for yourself buddy.”
GeriHew
@Max the Communist: The thing is though is that he’s blatantly contradicting himself- i.e.
Saying he’s “totally gay”
and then saying:
“So I’m still attracted to women, I could still easily sleep with a woman. I haven’t in the last couple of years but I think if I meet a girl I could still have a relationship with her.”
And if he doesn’t really care if people want to call him bisexual or gay then anyone who respects bisexual identity would call him what he obviously is. I.E. Bisexual.
And any homosexual person who really respects their own gay identity would as well.
But of course that would mean they had to admit that bisexuality really exists. Which is the real nub of the issue here.

@PRINCE OF SNARKNESS aka DIVKID: If I thought he was “hot”(I prefer a more muscular, masculine, less tattoos, olive-dark skin, bald/close-cropped/”buzz-cut,” no product head/hair – NO twinks (see Tom Daly/Neil Patrick Harris, etc.)) and was a size-queen (“hung” as you say), I guess I wouldn’t be so “hostile” toward him, not that I knew who he was in the first place since I never heard of this band or like this type of music. Just sayin!
I don’t think that since we don’t have the same preference in “guys”/MEN make me any less “well-adjusted” and “secure” as you profess to be (since I don’t know what your therapist has assessed about your sexuality).
enlightenone
@enlightenone: Mark Wahlberg, Chris Evans, Leonardo DiCaprio, Channing Tatum, Justin Timberlake, Charlie Hunnam, and Ben Affleck would be the exceptions!!!!
enlightenone
@samwise343: Unfortunately, many who identify as “bisexual,” at least for a minute, i.e. Tom Daly, actors, musicians, sports figures, etc. gives TRUE bisexuality a bad rap. Those who get themselves in the media, You Tube, etc., tend to be all over the place in being able to describe their sexuality (Kinsey was half a century ago!) and justify their sexual behavior, i.e. “gay4pay,” leading many gay guys, especially the younger one’s confused and hurt, and therefore, insecure and fearful to establish a more EXCLUSIVE/committed relationship with them.
enlightenone
@Maozedong: Depending on how much they LOVE the vagina. From what many heterosexual men say and reported historically, many men have died/or killed for “it!” And no, it doesn’t contradict my previous/longer post.
enlightenone
@Billy Budd: Of what? This isn’t Hitler’s Germany or Stonewall 1969!
enlightenone
@Zodinsbrother: As LGBT we know what the “closet” is in its variations, i.e. “let people define themselves how they see fit;” “I’m 100% straight.” He went on to say: Who knows a year from now I might want to sleep/have sex with a guy or words to that effect; to “I don’t believe in labels!”
enlightenone
@Blackceo: I agree with your perspective!
allegiance2none
Horton hears a……..WHO???
Never heard of her
enlightenone
@Billy Budd: “Scared” of what? Really?
Charles
He completely contradicts himself. How can him say he’s fully gay, yet say he’s attracted to women?
I think he just got a lot of shit fro saying he was bi and then backpedaled. He’s is still bi based on his words.
I don’t get how some bisexuals will literally describe themselves as the verbatim definition of bisexual, yet avoid the word, as if people can’t see through it.
Charles
@dazzer: “recognise the truth of their own selves in a way that Jesse J and Nicki Minaj don’t.”
Meh not really. He describes himself using the deftion of bisexual yet call himself gay just because he has sex with men? That’s kinda problmatic
Charles
@kevininbuffalo:
No, he’s just bi
