The Amazing Spider-Man
($55.99 Blu-ray, $30.99 DVD; Sony)
It’s awfully soon to reboot this superhero franchise, and director Marc Webb’s attempt suffers for it. Andrew Garfield is no slouch as Peter Parker (ditto for Emma Stone as his girl Gwen Stacy) but the whole thing feels choppy and contrived. The Blu-ray offers the film in 3D (if you have a 3D set), as well as a commentary by Webb and producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach. There’s also a seven-part doc, “Rite of Passage: The Amazing Spider-Man Reborn,” deleted scenes, production art galleries for Spidey and The Lizard, a digital-effects featurette with commentary, a tie-in for the video game and more. Whew!
