It’s a week for both big Hollywood flicks and queer indie cinema, as Bella’s damned choices come to an end in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Pt. 2, a trans teen must navigate her own life choices in Gun Hill Road (above), and a 17-year-old from an eccentric family attempts to navigate his sexuality (among other things) in Someday This Pain Will Be Useful To You.

Meanwhile, UUnsimulated sex, humor and pathos inform I Want Your Love, the tale of a gay artist leaving San Francisco—while the more kid-friendly Wreck It Ralph, sees a 8-bit anti-hero try to leave his video-game universe.

Now transformed into a vampire—with a bloodsucker baby, to boot—Bella Swan finds herself in deep doo-doo with the Volturi. Can Edward and his clan muster enough support to protect her? Will we finally see some real action? Will Jacob even bother to wear a shirt? Extras include a commentary track with out director Bill Condon, a whopping 90-minute making-of featurette, a Green Day music video, and more.

NEXT: A video-game villain tries to change his programming in Wreck-It Ralph

Wreck-It Ralph
($27.99 3-D Blu-ray/DVD combo, $19.99 Blu-ray/DVD combo, $16.99 DVD; Buena Vista)

Nominated for a Best Animated Feature Oscar this better-than-it-looks feature follows the titular vide0-game character as he attempts to shed his bad-guy image and winds up crossing into various gaming universes. Great voicework by John C. Reilly (as Ralph), as well as Jack McBrayer, Jane Lynch and Sarah Silverman help TK the triumph of free will over computer programming. DVD extras include the Oscar-winning animated short “Paperman.”

NEXT: A transgender teen tries to connect with a father still fixed on her old identity in Gun Hill Road

In this long-awaited DVD release, trans actress Harmony Santana stars as a Bronx teen whose transition to Vanessa is complicated by the arrival of her macho ex-con father, Enrique (Esai Morales). Writer/director Rashaad Ernesto Green’s feature debut, a film-fest fave, sees a father at odds with dueling instincts—ingrained cultural homophobia and the desire to love his child. But Road is really a showcase for Santana (Eating Out: Drama Camp) and the young actress shines in what is hopefully one of many more great performances.

NEXT: There’s more to I Want Your Love than just actual sex (but there’s that, too).

Expanded from a 14-minute short, director Travis Mathews’ romantic drama follows hipster Jesse as he prepares to move away from San Francisco. While the film gained notoriety for incorporating explicit sex (it’s been banned in Australia) it’s the nonsexual moments that are truly revealing. Extras include the original short film.
