Less than a week after Catholic League president Bill Donohue called her an "anti-Catholic vulgar trash-talking bigot…" and Presidential hopeful John Edwards allowed her to keep her job, blogger Amanda Marcotte (pictured, blurry with too much lipstick) has resigned from the Edwards campaign.
It all started when Donohue and his cronies found some less-than-friendly comments about Catholics on Marcotte's personal blog. Standing on his politically motivated pulpit, Donohue demanded justice be served against Marcotte and another "pro-gay" blogger, Melissa McEwan. In addition to taking on the Catholic Church, Marcotte also aimed at the GOP voters, writing,
Voters who are motivated by misogyny, homophobia, and racism aren’t going to leave a racist, misogynist, homophobic party for one that is all those things but just less so.
She's obviously a clever girl.
Clever or no, Marcotte's left the campaign. On her blog, Pandagon - which, as of this writing, has been disabled by cyber-dicks - Marcotte wrote that the attention "was creating a situation where I felt that every time I coughed, I was risking the Edwards campaign." She went on to note:
No matter what you think about the campaign, I signed on to be a supporter and a tireless employee for them, and if I can't do the job I was hired to do because Bill Donohue doesn't have anything better to do with his time than harass me, then I won't do it.
Well, it's a bit of a cop out, but if that's what you think is best. It's not really like Edwards is going to win, anyway, so you're really saving yourself the trouble.

Your article is interesting but her own blog says she took it down, not as you say cyber-dicks. Anyway hate speak from people like her doesn't advance any cause but hate.

Frankly, the Dems better grow a spine and start pushing back. And it sure would be nice if the right-wing, which is now oh-so-concerned about bigotry, extended their ire to the folks on their side. Like, oh, Bigot Bill Donohue.
even though she left the campaign 'voluntarily' .. edwards doesn't need the diversion.. i hate to see crackpots like donahue have any sway in the real world.
it sure would be nice if candidates were willing to call the hateful 'religious' bigots on their crap and not wilt in the face of their cries of religious freedom. they are free to believe whatever they want and the rest of us are free to say they are full of it.

Bill Donahue, on the other hand, has said that pedophilia is a "homosexual scandal," that Muslims can't be trusted with liberty, and that Hollywood is controlled by "secular Jews" who hate Christianity.

A campaign should be initiated to have The Catholic League's 501(c)3 tax exempt status REVOKED by the IRS and back taxes paid. This is a politically involved hate group that lobbies politicians and attempts to influence legislation. There is a clear political agenda here, one that could be argues is not very Christian. This group should not be allowed to do this with taxpayers money while claiming to be a tax exempt religious organization. I urge everyone to file a complaint against this bullying pimp Donahue and The Catholic League with the IRS.
