ELCA Welcomes Back 2 Coupled Gay Pastors (After 1 Already Quit)

s

Pastor Bradley Schmeling and Pastor Darin Easler (pictured, R-L), a gay couple stripped of their preaching duties by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, have been reinstated. But that hinges upon these two remaining a monogamous couple, according to the new rules passed last month, so no funny business. Not that Schmeling actually went anywhere; he was still leading his flock in Atlanta — the ELCA just didn’t recognize him. As for Easler? The homophobia inside the church caused him to leave in 2003, and he’s since taken up with the United Church of Christ.

PeterC – Of course they do. It happened in a church I know of personally.

@PeterC: For being single? No. For getting a divorce? Sometimes. For adultery? Usually.
