Elect David Cameron Prime Minister and He’ll Wipe Clean Convictions for Consensual Gay Sex

Still trying to soothe over relations with LGBT voters after one faux pas after another, Britain’s Tories have a new olive branch for homosexuals if you elect them to power: If you were previously convicted of having consensual gay sex with someone who is over 16, they pass a law to wipe it from your criminal record. Of course, it is no longer illegal to have same-sex sex with folks over age 16, so men and women who do have it on their criminal records are already not guilty of an act that is no longer criminal. But their little pet project would also remove the requirement of disclosing this nugget about your past to potential employers, which could help you find a job. Just probably not turning down beds at certain bed and breakfasts.

Cameron proposes wiping them from the individuals criminal record which is not quite the same as giving them an apology and overturning the convictions. Too little, too late!
