Ellen and Portia Headed To Splitsville?

ellenportiaemmys.jpg
Could it be?! Are Star staffers and their anonymous sources right when they allege Ellen's breakdown last week stemmed from domestic havoc? From the current issue, which hit stands today.

According to multiple sources, [Ellen's] really in pain because her three-year romance with actress Portia de Rossi is all but over.

"Ellen would never have broken down like that on TV if things were right in her home life," one source tells Star.

Portia has been telling Ellen she's very unhappy at home," says a second source…."When it comes down to it, she wants to be with someone younger ad hotter. She wants out, but Ellen has been begging her to stay. Portia is really everything in this world to her."

Our worlds are crumbling. Ellen and Portia are our favorite lesbian couple in lesbian couple history. Without them - well, we just don't know what we'll do.

Hollywood for everyone, it seems, is a lifestyle that creates marriages written in invisible ink, prenuptual agreements, and "celebrity jailings and courtroom antics."

Ellen DeGeneres should be commended for her self-outing a few years ago. Sadly, she joins the league of gay and straight couples who change spouses/partners like others change their shirts.

You know, there are few, and were many more, Hollywood stars of yore who remained married to one person for decades. I am waiting for a gay couple to add to that reality.

I dunno, the fifteen-year age difference probably doesn't help.

I prefer Alexandra Hedison to Portia anyway. I wonder if she's still hanging out with Portia's ex or Catherine Moennig?

afrolito: Not bloody likely. Portia was with Francesca Grigorini before she dumped her for Ellen, who dumped Alexandra Hedison for Portia. Portia is an avowed lesbian, unlike Heche.

So anyway, it could be said that Portia is the lesbian equivalent of, say, Catherine Zeta-Jones. Career climber, if you will.

How exciting! If they do split up, and each dates two new gals in 2009, The Advocate can do 4 EXCLUSIVE cover interviews with their new paramours!

Because every lady dating an out dyke entertainer automatically merits an Advocate cover!

Noooo! They look nice together. Plus they're both Aquarians, so they should get along fabulously. :)

Why, Afrolito? Because she's hot and femme so she has to like guys? Sorry to disappoint, but per an interview with the Advocate, she was gay before Ellen–and in the closet about it for some time.

Oh noooooooo!!!!!!

Oh well, if this is true, I just wish Ellen better luck next time. Maybe she should avoid committing to anyone else for a while so she can figure out what kind of gal she needs in her life. Life as a celebrity is very difficult, since you have so many people throwing themselves at you for the wrong reasons.

Ugh who knows, who cares. I think Ellen and Portia are adorable but if they break up, they break up. We really know nothing about them as human beings. However, I do find the prediction that Portia will end up as a man offensive, one because of the stereotype of what a lesbian should look/act like, and two because it was meant as an insult. If she did fall in love with a man, so what? Sexuality is fluid and when gay people shun others for bisexuality, pansexuality, experimentation, LOVE, it makes them just as bad as homophones.

Doesnt Ellen move in with her gals after a few hours of knowing them? Well, maybe there is something to that.

If she did fall in love with a man, so what

So that would be a heterosexual relationship, while being some people's natural inclination, also is unduly considered some kind of virtue, with homosexuality consequently being the vice. Such a switch would be symbolically negative. Had not homosexuality been given such a bad rep, that may not be the case, but society chose this path, so a bitter backlash is what they get, possibly even toward those who all of a sudden are open-minded.

makes them just as bad as homophobes.

No, more like rightfully cynical. More often than not, these "bisexuals, pansexuals, and experimenters" are the homophobes, who unable to suppress urges, dabble in a little same-sex fling, and at the end of the day return to their ivory tower of "normalcy", especially when they can't take the heat or worse, dish it out.

Maybe if Ellen ran off to Reno with Judy Greer, Portia would become insanely jealous and chase after her.

It never fails that one strays off. Gay, lesbian or hetrosexual, we're all linked to the same roaming spouses statistics (say that fast 3 times)! I feel bad for Ellen. I'm a big fan. This will sting for quite awhile. I hope that she'll come out of this OK and ready to try again.

So Brandon, people shouldn't explore their own natural sexual inclinations because it's bad for us politically? No, that's stupid, and I stand by my original statement that we should accept all sexualities. I'm so tired of people insisting bisexuals don't exist.

Ash, since you seemed to take the cynical comments about her going to a man as an insult, I simply explained to you why such negative feeling might exist - and it's because such a switch by her would be equally insulting to some people. Whether her intentions (or lack thereof) were pure doesn't matter. Just as it would be a matter of unchosen feelings for the "bi" "tri" or "pan" sexual, the same would be true for others.

"Lesbian couples move in together too quickly then brake apart.!"

Yep, that's exactly what we lesbians do. Except for my ex…and me…and all my lesbian friends. Hmmm…could it be, perhaps, that Larry is buying into a tired stereotype and just generally being an asshole? I think that might be it.

This saddens me, i looked up to this relationship, as i too have a girlfriend 19 years younger than i, we have been together 3 years and are still very much in love, she is so much hotter than portia though, lucky me. i hope they work it out, they look so good together.

The lesbian couples that we know in Canada personally are for the most part, legally married with children. Divorce rates in Canada presently are less than for opposite sex couples.

This might be because the first couples to marry in the last five years were those with decades and more marriages. Yet, the overnight marriage is not as prevalent as with opposite sex couples. It happens, but there seems to be a greater understanding of the gift we have been given by a wonderful nation. It is very very very very easy to LOVE YOUR COUNTRY when you are an LGBT Canadian.

I didn't know Portia was dating a japanese girl before Francesca?? She was married to a man for 2 years and divorced in '99. Ironically, she was leaving a man, and ended up with a woman, when Anne was leaving Ellen, and ended up with a man!

I hope everyone who reads this realizes that this is not true, the papers and magazines didn't have anything to write, so they wrote that Ellen and Portia's relationship was getting rockie! If you read anything on them today you'll that:
They are getting married!
Ellen announced in during a taping of her show in May,with Portia in the audience.
