Elton John, who’s gone off the rails about institutional religion and dared called Jesus gay (and then clarified that he was only comparing himself to Jesus, like, jeez!), has been banned from entering Egypt to perform. Says Mounir al-Wasimi, head of the Egyptian Musician Union: “How do we allow a gay, who wants to ban religions, claimed that the prophet Eissa (Jesus) was gay and calls for Middle Eastern countries to allow gays to have sexual freedom.”
On the plus side, last month Elton did get the chance to perform with the Mayan pyramids.

I wish he didn’t call Jesus gay because this is hardly going to change religious people’s minds about gays is it? And since the success of Prop 8 was largely down to religous people gay icons comparing themselves to Jesus will only fuel their irrational hate for us.

Yeh that gay Jesus thing was way out of left field, but maybe not for Elton, it’s a wierd thing to say with no proof etc.
