As the Eugene O’Neill Theater in New York City gears up for its staged reading of Dustin Lance Black’s Prop 8 play, director Joe Mantello finds himself with the pleasure of directing the reading’s star actors including Anthony Edwards, Morgan Freeman, Cheyenne Jackson, Christine Lahti, Rob Reiner, Yeardley Smith and Marisa Tomei.
Yeardley Smith will play most likely play yellow-skinned civil rights activist Lisa Simpson and Morgan Freeman will probably narrate because that dude narrates damn near everything—prison breaks, penguin marches, alien wars… so why not the historic Prop 8 trials?
