Ex-Gays Love Ex-Gay Loving Holsinger

We homos have been hating on homo-hating surgeon general nominee Dr. James Holsinger. Now his pals over at Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays & Gays are hating on us. Not-so-shocking considering Holsinger’s endorsed reparative therapy to “cure” homos. In addition to endorsing Holsinger, PFOX blasts gay media for blasting Holsinger.

Read the gory details, after the jump…

Executive director Regina Griggs released quite the statement in which she insists ex-gays deserve the same rights as gays, rights Holsinger understands:

Gay activists lobby to be included in tolerance policies, hate crimes and employment non-discrimination legislation, but work hard to deny ex-gays the right to the same treatment.

Ex-gays should not have to be closeted for fear of other’s negative reactions or disapproval. They do not think something is wrong with them because they chose to fulfill their heterosexual potential. We need to ensure the safety, inclusion, and respect of former homosexuals in all realms of society, but especially by the medical and mental health communities starting at the highest levels.

As a medical doctor, it seems Dr. Holsinger is aware that contrary to distortions by gay activists, no professional medical or mental health associations deny the right of any individual to seek support in resolving unwanted same-sex attractions.

Americans need to face the growing issue of bigotry perpetrated upon ex-gays and their supporters. Gay activists cannot claim sympathy as victims when they attack ex-gays for political purposes of their own.

Funny, because we thought “gay activists” were protecting people from a dangerous form of therapy debunked by the American Psychological Association.

Also, can we take a second to highlight one sentence in this statement: “Ex-gays should not have to be closeted for fear of other’s negative reactions or disapproval.” First and foremost, love the unironic reference to the closet. Second, aren’t ex-gayers in the movement precisely because of other people’s negative reactions to their innate sexuality? These people need to get their facts straight.
