The Council Bluffs, Iowa pastor that admitted to having sex with underage boys in an effort to help them “get rid of evil [gay] thoughts” will serve no time in prison, thanks to a judge that thought probation would better serve him.
Charged with 60 counts of “suspicion of sexual exploitation by a counselor or therapist,” 31-year-old Brent Girouex’s story has recently reared its ugly head on political blogs despite being a year old. According to local CBS affiliate KCCI 8, a judge issued Girouex a 17-year-prison sentence for the rape of as many as eight underage boys in 2012, but later suspended the sentence to allow Girouex to seek “sex offender treatment” and remain on probation for five years.
Even though his accusers claimed to have been molested between 50-100 times by Girouex, he was released on a $30,000 bond in 2012.
KCCI reported that Girouex was married and had four children of his own. His wife wasn’t pleased with the judgement:
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Erin Girouex, the pastor’s wife, said Thursday probation is not enough. She joined the victims to say they are frustrated. She also said victims of sexual misconduct should not be afraid to come forward, despite what happened in court.
She said it’s tough to know how her husband changed from the man he was when the couple married.
Changed? Ya don’t say…

Just probation? Serious miscarriage of justice.
Kamuriie
Probation??? What a travesty!
Tommysole
This is a travesty of justice!
What do the people he molested think of the justice system now? He should have received jail time without the possibility of parole.
Charlie in Charge
Unacceptable. He preyed upon (while he prayed upon) gay youth and he gets to talk about it with a therapist? The message seems to be clear: “Rapists in positions of authority with kids, keep on keepin’ on.”
Tone
He’s been found guilty of the crimes he was charged. You no longer have to say that his victims “claim” abuse, the allegations have been tried in court and found to be true. He is not now merely charged with these crimes, but justly convicted of them. He DID molest those children. There is no longer any presumption of innocence.
And I say, cut the fucker’s nuts off.
arj
Where’s them *snap* *snap* ladies when you need ’em……oh that’s right, there’s more money going after Catholic priests.

christian walks away in yet another case of religious bias.

Christians are such vermin
Mr. E. Jones
Any chance for some “small town” justice to be meted out?
myklet
There is no cure for sexual preference! Another predator walks the streets, thanks to a man with power he obviously should not have.
Cagnazzo82
How exactly do you suspend a 17 year sentence?
Meanwhile, people are spending decades in jail and having their lives ruined just for carrying plants.
What a sick country we live in.
Dakotahgeo
@Tone: How very Christian of you? Would you like me to mete out some real justice for YOUR transgressions in life? C’mon… ‘fess up!!! What’s good for everyone else is good for you.
2eo
@Dakotahgeo: Trivialising child r@pe, how christian of you, and I say that with no hint of irony.
Some you want to share, Pastor?
Although I have suspected given your general tone on any posts about the prevelance of christian based r@pe.
Tone
@Dakotahgeo: Be gone troll.

As a gay male raised in a Pentecoastal Church I think what he got was just a slap on the wrist and told it was ok well its not. I think this shit happens way to much at least it does in the Pentecoastal churches. And can’t he cure anything it he is NOT God . How you say your are a Christian and do stuff like this. If Christians act this way I don’t wanna be a christian!!
HirsuteOne
I’m not naive by any stretch of the imagination, but I truly don’t have words for this or can understand how this sentence could be imposed for such barbaric acts.
Dakotahgeo
@2eo: I believe this is the first story I’ve seen on child rape in ages. It had nothing to do with “rape.” My comments stand. Please don’t try to comment on anything Christian OR christian since you are not one. You don’t count.
Dakotahgeo
@Tone: LOLOL… sorry, can’t oblige! (You really didn’t think it was THAT easy did you? You don’t seem to have an IQ above room temperature so I’d check out before you’re really embarrassed. Best wishes!
Tone
@Dakotahgeo: Oh go ahead, embarrass me 😛
CalgaryBill
This is sickening.
1. What is wrong with the prison system that rehabilatory courses cannot be given while serving a prison sentence?
2. Why should judges be totally protected from repercussions of their actions? It is clear that this judge should be charged as an accessory after the fact, except that action is against the law.
So the rapist has a minor slap on the wrist, and the judge gets a bit of bad publicity. Bet the judge believes gay = pedophilia too.
2eo
@Dakotahgeo: So you’re saying people shouldn’t speak out about christian child r@pe?
There is only really one conclusion I can take away if you have to resort to that reasoning. Only one type of person defends paedophiles.
myklet
sick
Dakotahgeo
@2eo: Child rape is neither Christian, christian, or non-Christian. C’mon now, you’re smarter than that! I’ve also seen your past comments and you are much smarter than you are letting on. Nobody with any conscience supports pedophiles, Silly guy! Quit playing out of your league… you Brits are a heck of a lot smarter than that.
2eo
@Dakotahgeo: If it isn’t christian, or a core belief in those who push christianity then why are so many at it? vastly out of proportion to other positions of power.
Why are they protected?
Why are the victims families attacked?
Why do the other members of a church attack, and sometimes even kill the victims?
Why do other christians protect them and spare them jail?
Why do christians of all cults downplay the systematic centuries of child r@pe?
Why is it treat like a joke when it is a priest or Pastor, yet a regular kid fucker in the street gets 20 pages and ran out of town?
Protecting the faith, ergo it’s not a jump nor is it fake or a plea to ignorance to arrive at the conclusion it is approved and even encouraged because christians don’t face the same consequences other sick headed but non christian child molesters do.
Instead they get an awesome holiday in a country they can not be extradited from.
Dakotahgeo
@2eo: LOLOLOL… oh myyyyyy!!! I have more important things to do (like flush the toilet) than to try and figure out what “salient” point you’re trying to make. Quit rambling, po’ victim!
the other Greg
Damn – Dakotageo is being a real a-hole here.
to 2eo: “Quit rambling, po’ victim!”
Ugh – repulsive comment. Although 2eo almost never mentions personal stuff in his rants, I’ve considered the possibility that his relentless vehemence on this subject may be fueled by abuse in his past. More to the point, looks like Dak DOES think exactly that, is sure of it – and still made this absolutely disgusting remark! Yeah – I see no other interpretation except that Dak thinks child sexual abuse is not a big deal.
to Tone: “How very Christian of you? Would you like me to mete out some real justice for YOUR transgressions in life?”
(uh… first, why assume that Tone is even so much as a baptized-as-a-kid Christian at all? That’s idiotic.)
I’m going to guess that like MOST of us, Tone has NEVER committed a felony of any kind – let alone child molestation. Maybe he’s never even committed a misdemeanor. Maybe a parking ticket or two, or a citation for putting out the trash on the wrong day. (What “real justice” would Dak “mete out” for that?) Most of us lead pretty law-abiding lives; perhaps Dak runs around with a rough crowd of convicted felons.
So what is Dak imagining here: some of the arcane “transgressions” that Jesus was obsessed with? Fortunately the modern legal system (unless you count divorce court) just does not care or concern itself about any of that stuff.
Go fuck yourself, Dak!
IzzyLuna
Why isn’t the Judge named? He’s the one we should be blaming just as much as this criminal.
Cam
Ok, this is my guess as to what happened. Just a guess but it’s the only reason I can think of to give this guy no time.
The guy is obviously a child molester.
He has contact with other child molesters.
The judge is one of his contacts.
He let the judge know that if he did jail time he would expose the judge as another child molester.
I know it sounds crazy, but somebody give me ANY other reason that a judge would suspend all of his sentence for multiple child rapes.
Dakotahgeo
@the other Greg: ROFLMBO@ you guys! Yo tambien! As if your simple comments mean anything to me?! Get serious, guys! Do have a great day now, y’ hear?! (Moving on….) <:-)
2eo
@the other Greg: Greg, funny you should say this.
Dako’s real name Is George M. Melby, he’s a lapsed baptist/mennonite who practices in MO and has for many, many years.
However a close friend of his, who worked with him at the same churches and events for years was a man names Travis Smith.
http://www.bishop-accountability.org/news2013/05_06/2013_06_14_Allen_AccusedMo.htm
June 14th, Travis Smith faces NEW charges.
So he’s protecting his friends, given what they’re up to I think we can clearly see why he defends paedophiles.
crowebobby
Does anyone know how to petition 20/20 to do a report on this? Specifically the probation issue.
BlogZilla
The only reason a judge would let a person like this go is because he has the same selfish, sick and perverted thoughts as this monster, and he’s otherwise an upstanding member of society
LubbockGayMale
I see a judge who needs to be re-called if elected, or reprimanded by the higher courts/bar association. If this predator had molested young girls would the judge’s decision be the same? I think not.
TrekBear
He ought to do community service on a chain gang on big, rough, lifers!
tomron
@Tone: I second the motion!!!!!
tomron
@Dakotahgeo: Am I to believe that to you, the only thoughts/opinions/comments that matter are “Christian/christian”? The man in question is a bloody disgrace to HUMANITY! That does include Christians, I think. And, your seeming smoothing over of his heinous criminal abuse of children is anything BUT an example of “Christian/christian” morality.
Submitted by a very moral non-Christian.
murphy0071
While on probation is he sharing his buddy booty with the judge? It appears the judge needs to step down, a more appropriate judge appointed and an realistic sentence be administered. A few years with the general population should be enough.
Christians are complaining about being hassled over their religious beliefs in their businesses, commerce, schools, etc. This is a case where a Christian pastor was given a huge pass. Why don’t these so-called morally upstanding groups and individuals stop being cry babies and get behind a strong condemnation of this laughable sentence for heinous crimes against youth.
Dakotahgeo
@2eo: Listen, I can’t be blamed for a mule screwing your mother and your turning out the way you did, but get your facts straight, Jackalope! There are no less than 57 different varieties of Baptist denominations in the USA alone! Southern Baptists are probably the most repulsive of them all, but I attended and graduated from a Baptist-USA Convention Seminary, was hospital/hospice Chaplain for ten years for the more liberal Baptist Church-ABC (you yokels are so damn smart, look it up!). When I retired, I joined the Mennonite-USA church and have been a happy member for 7 years in one of only two GLBT-supportive churches in that denomination. It is the only denomination that has had a minister (female)actively marry a same-sex couple in KANSAS!!!
You know, I don’t mind what religion you either do or do not practice (I am especially thankful that hopefully none of you blokes ARE Christian… you’re embarrassing enough the way it is!). But the very least, THE VERY LEAST, you could do is get your intellectual ducks in a roll and delve a little deeper (non-sexually, of course, if that’s possible for y’all!) for correct information. As for Travis Smith, he is/now WAS a Southern Baptist minister, while I am not in that denomination, and have never met the doofus!
And last, but not least, if any of you had seen my facebook page, you would have seen me standing next to the most wonderful man in the world, my Brazilian friend, Ari! Since DOMA has gone the way of the dodo bird, we are in talks with an Immigration lawyer and have applied for a Fiancée visa and will then follow through with a application for his green card. Since Ari is under contract and teaching in Brazil at the time, we have set December of 2014 for the big day! Eat your frickin’ hearts out, you losers!
Now then, I can only ASSUME that I have answered all your “Inquiring Mind” questions and that you will find a happier existence by all playing in the rush hour traffic ASAP! I am done with you! I’ve wasted enough precious time on ne’er do-wells such as yourselves! Do have a nice, warm afterlife!
gayspud-1
judge should be removed from office.also should service jail time that the pastor should
have gotten
Freddyeddy
The under aged, but sexually mature young men kept coming back for more of this preacher man’s sex pheromones, man juices, and healthy mutual physical sexual affection with each others man parts. These young men’s religions were trying to brainwash and bully these young men into hating their normal sexual desires for practicing sex with other young men. Teaching men to hate homosexuality is a human rights violation and causes many closeted, terrorized, naturally bisexual young men to take up positions in society that deal socially with other like minded young men, such as preachers, prostitutes, politicians, priests, rabbis, coaches, military personnel, and sexually deprived husbands.
The real criminals are the medical witchdoctor/religious fanatics who justify their homophobic psychosis with creation science fiction, whom get away with sexually traumatizing, mutilating, and molesting infant boys with forced infant prepuce excision ritual sacrificing’s and coerced Islamic prepubescent sunnet ritual prepuce sacrifices to false gods. This unhealthy sexually traumatic, homophobic attitude is responsible for turning babies/boys into mass murdering suicidal pedophile rapist men. Pedophilia is technically a disease caused by these religious superstitious indoctrinations, not a crime, so the judge was correct at the preachers light sentencing.
If it was reproductive sexual intercourse with an under aged girl pedophilia then the preacher or whom ever should get the death penalty, because reproductive sex can end up killing the young girl victims.

@Tone: I’m not sure he’s a troll. I don’t believe in vigilante justice either – ever – you can see it pretty clearly in Russia right now and its ugly. It is always ugly in fact. That’s why we have courts. I may not agree with the decision, but I don’t support the community augmenting it – and if you think about it – I doubt you do either.
Dakotahgeo
@2eo: Addendum: LOLOL… I’m anything but lapsed as far as an active Christian. I’m busier now than I was when an active Pastor/Chaplain. When you learn to understand what you read, discern, and apply, get back to us. Until then, stick to your Playdough!!
Dakotahgeo
@Hermes: Thank you, Hermes. Yes, I am far from a troll when it comes to any religion and bad church workers on any level. I’ve sat on three different panels discerning and passing judgment(s) on wayward pastors and it is not fun! I worked to make sure two pastors never entered the doors of ministry again in any capacity. Any kind of sexual assault is undeniably wrong, always was, is now, and ever will be! Anybody with a lick of common sense knows that! It shouldn’t even be up for discussion! Revenge and vigilante justice never works. Where there is punishment, corrective, positive action must also take place, because the assailant is also a human being. We may despise WHAT he/she does, but we should NEVER despise the person! I have no control over the Court or Prison decisions; that is not my area of expertise, nor do I want it to be! I just wish the “irregular” commenters on this site would think before they put their comments in print, because thy add nothing to a solution to the problem at hand. In fact, I don’t know why they post such tripe. If… IF any person on this blog has had altercations regarding sexual abuse in their past, OR present, I would urge each and every one to get PROFESSIONAL COUNSELING ASAP!!! Your anger, pain, and hurt are rearing their ugly heads and it definitely clouds your ability to understand and discern your inner wounds (and possibly outer wounds!)!
This is why I don’t put up with BS from people that should know better!! I can only “ASSume” that malcontents here are over the age of consent and maturity, but I see very little of that in the writing. I hopefully never have to take back anything I’ve said, and ESPECially when my comments are meant to help. No matter how many times one screams, “TH BRIDGE IS OUT, A$$HOLE!!!”, YOU KNOW, YOU know… THEY’RE GONNA STEP ON THE GAS to make that one last effort… and it usually is!
So, to 2eo, the other Greg, et al, read your comments in this and other blogs and think if I or anyone else with common sense would put up with your garbage! I could give two shi*s what religion you are or aren’t… if you are going to comment, use common sense, think about what you are going to say, and if necessary, THINK AGAIN! You “boys have certainly enlightened me! Unnnngh!!!
PS: If you’re going look at my facebook account, for God’s sake, get the damn name spelled correctly! George M Melby (No period after the middle initial!) You leave a LOT to be desired, @the other Greg! In every area you attempt!
2eo
@Dakotahgeo: So you’re taling about bringing another paedophile into the USA, after your ridiculous defence of child r@pe, which now nubers about 50 posts just since I started posting here.
Might just have a word with immigration, I’m sure they won’t want another sex offender entering the US.
Dakotahgeo
@2eo: For one thinks they have influence with anyone in life, you couldn’t tie your shoes without video instructions! I’m not worried in the least. Get your own life in order, little one!!!
the other Greg
@Dakotahgeo: As the country song says, How can we miss you when you won’t go away?
“I am done with you! I’ve wasted enough precious time on ne’er do-wells such as yourselves!” Followed of course by interminable, un-paragraphed logorrhea (i.e. “keyboard diarrhea,” so maybe that’s why you called us “irregular” posters?). No, 2eo and I both post here more often than you do, if not in such indiscriminate volume.
I’m still curious, though, about those “ducks in a roll” [sic]. Is that a Missouri specialty? What kind of a roll? Is there barbecue sauce involved? Does Anthony Bourdain know about this?
Dakotahgeo
@the other Greg: I take full responsibility for my muistakes and have no problem in correcting them when they are brought to my attention. You, on the other hand, are a very spoiled little child who doesn’t realize that wisdom doesn’t come in a lot of words or comments, but getting a intelligent point across with the least amount of words. On an intelligence scale, I am and always will be light years ahead of you. Which has got to be maddening to a fart smeller, errr, smart feller, like you. And really, I don’t care whether you miss me or not.
