Well said, Jack!

I love Queerty, but lately the posts have been so hostile in nature, not just toward PH, but just have a hostile tone in general. I am all for gay activism, but not at the cost of civility and normalcy. I don’t think most of Queerty’s reent posts – the hostile, angry mob mentality ones, anyway – really reflect gay people or their mindsets in general (though, who knows, I could be completely wrong because I’m not gay).

If the writers at Queerty can honestly sit there and say they’ve never called someone a faggot, then kudos to them, but I don’t know any gay person myself who could say the same.

There’s a million other things going on in the gay community worth highlighting, like Jack said. Why are you choosing to focus your time and energy on PEREZ HILTON?! All this name throwing is making the qriters at Queerty look immature and spiteful. I feel like they have a paid position there for someone to just sit on perezhilton.com all day and wait for the next big “misstep” by Perez so you can pounce on it and write a pointless blog trying to tie it in to gay goings on and get all the mindless people who just read this site without actually THINKING about this site to gang up and say “YEAH FUCK PEREZ HILTON BECAUSE QUEERTY SAYS SO!”.

Let it go. Seriously, let it go.

Let’s stop calling people “fag,” “faggot,” “repulsive,” “repugnant.”

Let’s stop using the term BITCH (as in bitch-slap, bitchy queen).

Let’s stop calling people “bitter old queens.”

Let’s stop talking about another gay’s fashion sense or weight.

You are all calling each other names like little children. What Perez did isn’t right, but we can’t keeping throwing stones at each other. What a waste of time and blogspace.

If you think about it a little more, the word “bitch” is awful, as is labeling people “bitter, old queens.” We’re all going to get old, and older GLBT people suffer too from our own community’s ageism.

Queerty — please stop vilifying Perez. We get the point. Every time he does something that angers you and your editors/reporters, find a positive news item about the community to post instead. Let’s move on, drop the tiresome and boring Perez-hating, and report good things.

Except, quite obviously, context is important. Perez used the word to attack and degrade a person, to suggest that there was something wrong with that. Damn right, we should be making a fuss about that.

You cannot be gay in this day and age and attempt to persecute another gay person for calling someone a fag. It’s turned into the gay-man’s “n-word”. It’s perfectly okay for us to use it amongst ourselves both as praise and persecution, and it’s perfectly okay for us to use it as persecution against others who aren’t gay- but damn the man (or woman) who uses it against us.

Yet here is Queerty referring to Perez as ‘that “faggot” blogger’ as though never in the history of Queerty has an article ever used ‘faggot’ as persecution.

Shame on you Queerty.

I’m a semi-fan and I’m sick of seeing posts about him. Good lord Queerty just stop publicizing him already.

Because people care. Why do people care? It has to be boredom.

I just looked up the line you refer to. It’s from a short play I wrote based on an incident that actually happened to two friends of mine. They were bashed in a park. When I suggested they call the police that is what one of my friends actually said to me. It was the reason he did not want me to call the police, meaning the police would be more likely to further abuse him than actually help him. A far cry from calling someone a faggot out of anger. It’s a work of fiction but is based (loosely) on real events.

But, as I said, please boycott me if you feel it necessary. although, I don’t know how that would work. I don’t sell stuff. Maybe you would not say hello to me if you ever met me?

Well, the postings in my blog are short form fiction. It’s not like I walked into a gay bar and started calling people faggots.

Queerty’s persecution of this is just zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Enough already. Stop writing about them if you hate them so much.
