Why shouldn't athletes be allowed to model? I could see logical reasons why they shouldn't be allowed to do product endorsements etc, and I could even understand if there was a morals clause prohibiting nudity, sex tapes etc. But a general prohibition of making money on their own likeness is a bit draconian. According to those rules, athletes couldn't even be a fashion model or actor. That’s just stupid. Why shouldn’t athletes be allowed to model?

The NCAA is very clear on this on the forms and waivers they make you sign. What people forget to realize is that the NCCA is a seperate corporate body that runs alongside of the universities. What they are being investigated is if they violated the NCCA rules of goverance of being under the NCAA and the rules pertaining to the scholorships and bursuries as an NCAA athele AND the rules of code of conduct for students at UNL. Included would be rule changes lifting the ban on athletes working during the off-season, allowing them to earn up to the difference between their athletic scholarship and the cost of attending school (around $2,000 a year).
