Charles Nolan, the fashion designer preferred by Democratic women, and the partner to financial columnist and DNC treasure Andrew Tobias (pictured L-R), died at his home yesterday of head and neck cancer. He was 53. Tobias successfully battled the cancer several years ago, but it returned in the fall and “moved aggressively.” In 2003, Nolan joined Howard Dean’s presidential campaign, returning to the fashion industry afterward to start his own label.

Very sad. Both Andy and Charles are wonderful people. Strange, though, to see this story right after “Oral Sex Is Killing You” about how oral sex can lead to head and neck cancer.

Charles Nolan was an amazing man. Talented in both his professional and personal lives. I had a chance to meet Charles and see first hand how he worked his magic when he was at designing at Anne Klein on 7th Ave. He will be missed by all who knew him, but for me I will miss his charm, intelligence, and amazing passion for all that is good. Charles wanted to make a difference in this world and he did it gracefully one stitch at a time. Rest now my friend.

For those of our people unaware, I just want to add what MSM is ignoring—or unaware themselves—and that is this couple’s endless sharing of their material wealth in contributing to countless LGBT charities and educational projects such as h……elping fund documentaries on our peoples’ history. In addition to having worked as the DNC treasurer for over a decade for a rarely-paid $1.00 a year, Andy has even fought reduction of taxes on the wealthy like himself. And though they couldn’t personally benefit as a couple, not living in CA, they donated $15,000 to fight Prop H8TE. By contrast, fellow NY/Miami resident & possibly wealthier Rosie O’Donnell, who told San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom in 2004 that she’d “be there” if he ever needed her, didn’t contribute one cent. Andy’s loss is also a loss to our Community and the country.
