Federal Protection For Trannies On The Table In Canada

Right now only a handful of provinces in Canada protect transgender folk from discrimination, but Bill Siksay, a New Democratic (that’s the furthest-to-the-left party for you Americans) Member of Parliament from British Columbia, wants to take it to the federal level with a new bill re-introduced this year (he introduced it last year too, but it got lost when election time came around).

Siksay, who is a homo, says of the bill, “This Bill is essential as it addresses the lack of explicit protection for transsexual and transgender people in the Canadian Human Rights Act.”

Gays were only added to the Human Rights Act in 1994. It’s about time that Canada protected the rest of us.

Actually, the New Democratic Party is a different party from the Liberal Party of Canada. The NDP are more left than the Liberal Party and are very pro-gay, pro-environment among other things.

Sorry, that wasn’t clear. I meant “liberal” in the sense that Americans understand it, meaning left-wing, but upon re-reading what I wrote, it was confusing and I’ve corrected it. Thanks for catching it. -F

I find the headline to be rather degrading and hurtful.

I do not consider myself or my transexed friends to be a part of a car or truck.

I do understand that some people use the term tranny or trannie as part of their way to identify themselves, however you will find, at least in Canada, most transexual people do not and find that offensive.
